Ok....For those having problems with Ethernet after this firmware update - I was able to fix mine.
Not sure what did it, but I re-flashed it, this time doing 2 things differently:
- When the flashing process was done (bar turned green and reported 100%), I pressed the big "STOP" button. The first time I flashed, I did not do this. I just assumed when it got to 100% and said success, it was done, and I unplugged the power (and USB cable) and plugged the power cable back in and turned it on. This time I pressed "STOP" first and when that was done I only unplugged the power (not the USB) and then plugged power back in and turned it on.
- I also tried using the img file from the 2nd link this time. First time I used the img file from the first link.
Not sure which of these two things solved it, but I am guessing it is the first (img files should both be the same one would hope?). Hope this helps someone else. The instructions PDF could definitely be a lot clearer regarding steps 6 and 7.
Its not very clear what you are doing and i add that the video is not that clear regarding cables.Hi everyone. I have the Minix NEO X8-H Plus. I have finally successfully downloaded the usb burning tool v2.0.9 and have imported the lollipop 5.1 file. But I can't connect my Minix NEO X8-H Plus to the usb burning tool. I am using a standard micro usb cable (android charging cable) as per video instructions but I am putting the micro usb cable into a OTG port on the side of the minix box. Could this be the reason why it's not downloading? I have noticed that OTG cables are micro USB to female USB. Does that mean I then have to connect USB to USB via the OTG cable to my computer? Or is this a firmware issue?

However, the only usb connection made to your PC should be made with the cable that was supplied with your minix , one end into the OTG port (micro) of the minix and the other into a USB port on your PC. The cable provided is not just a charging cable but also carries DATA and it is essential to use a cable of this type.
You need to extract the .img file from the rar file, winrar or 7-zip will do the job. Thanks for the reply.
Yes I found the original OTG cable. I have got a connection now which is great.
You'll have to excuse me, this is the first time I have tried to update my firmware and I am struggling a bit.
My problem now is that after I have downloaded the second link on this page, the mega link "X8H_PLUS_LOLLIPOP_RC2.rar", when going to import the file with the USB burning tool, I cannot find the file as the USB burning tool automatically browses for .img files but the mega file is a .rar. Is there something I am doing wrong? Also I am using the USB burning tool v2.2.0, is this the most recent version of the burning tool?

All seems fine, can you just confirm on the sticker underneath your box that you have the X8-H Plus, see below:Thanks Marty. I have done that and is now a .img file
However I have now downloaded two different lollipop firmware updates for the minix x8-h plus and both times I have pressed start on the USB burning tool and it has said error. I have attached a screen shot. Am I doing something wrong still?
Can you try the burn card method, if that fails then we know something is up with the device:

First boot after firmware upgrade always takes more time.Hello guys, I manage to complete the fimware upgrade process using USB Burning tool. But after doing that I guess I'm missing something 'cause my Minix won´t reboot. Does this ring a bell on someone?
Cheers
First boot after firmware upgrade always takes more time.
If the device does not boot (and if you had sucess in the upgrade process) leave the box turned off (with nothing connected , power cable included) and then after 5 minutes (more or less) turn on the device again.
If you have other device (PC for example) test cable/wifi.Thanks for the quick reply. I manage to find out what was happening. Initially I've had the minix conected to my computer monitor and I was having an "out of range" message. After I have it connected to my TV it worked out just fine.
Now I've another issue, MINIX is loosing conectivity some seconds after booting. Doesn't matter If I'm conected by wire or wirless. In control panel everything's look good but conectivity is lost. Anyone with this issue?
Thanks in advance
If you have other device (PC for example) test cable/wifi.
If you are unable to test with another device :
-first restart router
-if that don't work factory reset router
(Sometimes it is the best thing you can do after many changes)
