NEO X8, X8-H, X8 Plus - 009FW (20160328)

yes , you can install the latest version directly using the USB burning tool
Thank you. I will most probably try within the week and update about results... I am a bit reluctant due to the fact that i will lose everything on the device... Wish there was a method to keep existing settings & data.

anything in particular you are concerned about ?
Mostly my kodi media library & addons which will need setup from scratch...although i am pretty sure that the media library info can be exported from within kodi, but i haven't tried it so no clue if it really works properly.

in addition i would recommend the following settings

011619183918.png011619183941.png011619183950.png

backup to your download folder and then copy the backup file ( a dated zip file) to removable storage ( USB stick / SD card / or transfer to PC) gor use as your restore file

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I have a technical question. I am the owner of a MiniX Neo X8Plus with ANDROID KitKat 4.4.2 - KERNEL version 3.10.33. Is it possible to update it to Android Lollipop 5.0 / 5.0.1? If yes, which is the Rom to use? Thank you.

Hello, I own the Minix X8-H:
1. on YT show you to simultaneously press reset pin and power for 4 seconds, while in PDF is written to hold power for 6 seconds do not write anything about the pin - what are the right steps?
2. In my case it doesn't show how on YT
device ID (HUB1-4 for me doesn't show any line with detected devices), I had a problem with MTP USB drivers, but I solved it and Minix X8-H is correctly visible as an additional device taken up in Win7 64Bit (I used the YT method or 4 seconds I held the pin on reset settings + power); my version USB_Burning_Tool v2.0.6.2_build2
3. I received information that uploading firmware by OTG will not cause data loss - is it true? and how does it work if I upload firmware via USB flash drive from the Update&Backup app by pointing to it file?

Thanks for your reply I tried, same message in USB Burning Tool 2.1.6 with original firmware. Any other idea?
make sure the "world cup" driver installed when you installed the Burning Tool, if not uninstall and reinstall

try different combinations of usb cables and USB2.0 ports...it can be problematic to get a connection

also double/triple check that you have the right firmware for your device...its easy to make a mistake with the x8 series naming conventions:cautious:

simultaneously press reset pin and power is the correct method

OTG flash using usb burn tool will cause all data to be lost

Will the firmware upload using Update&Backup not delete the data? If so, can you ask for update.zip version of this firmware version?
If I use the Update&Backup application to make a backup to my USB flash drive, then after correctly uploading the firmware using the USB_Burning_Tool tool I will be able to restore the previous configuration of the app and their settings from the backup prepared in such a way on my flash drive using Update&Backup?

sorry dont know the answer to that one...

i always feel best to have a clean firmware update and then reinstall the apps that are important to me... can be a bit of a PITA but at least you know you have a "clean" setup with no gremlins from the past...
