NEO Z64-W: Windows 10 OS Image

this is new windows 10 iso or 2016? its better to download from microsoft site and install from usb?
this is z64w so 64 bit works? home edition?

Hello all,

I have my Z64W for several years and it's still running Win8. I never really wanted to upgrade it to Win10 to avoid any potential issue but here I am, considering to upgrade to Win10 anyway. I have a few questions about this upgrade.

1) At this moment my Z64W has 1.43 BIOS. I saw on this forum there's a 1.83 BIOS upgrade for the Windows version of the Z64. Do I need to upgrade to the latest BIOS version to run Win10 and can I upgrade directly from 1.43 to 1.83?
Somewhere on the forum I've read (but may have misunderstood) people had to upgrade to 1.53 first. But the only link I saw was a BIOS upgrade to 1.53 for Android. Flashing that BIOS version, would remove the Windows licence the BIOS holds so that would be a very bad idea.
So, can I upgrade directly from 1.43 to 1.83 and is it required to run Win10?

2nd question is about the Win10 image. Do I have to use the W10 OS image from this forum or can I just download from the Microsoft website a W10 32bit (I read it can only be 32bit. 64bit has no point because the device only has 2GB of RAM) image with the latest build (21h1) and install it on de Minix Z64W? Or is it better to use the OS image from the forums and have it upgrade itself to the latest build?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Regards

Hi guys, I need help applying the Windows 10 OS.

After my previous post, I already managed to upgrade the BIOS version to 1.83. I also ran into the fs3 vs fs1 problem but I found the BIOS file on this forum to do the upgrade from within Windows and that worked.

I extracted the contents of the 'Z64-W win10 OS.zip' from this forum onto my USB stick and followed the installation instructions: Pressed F11 when the Minix was starting and selected the USB stick but now I'm stuck on this. The process also seems to have removed everything from the USB stick.

How can I make this work?

How can I make this work?

I don't wish to insult your intelligence, but despite the instructions being relatively straightforward some users still sometimes miss a step.

Can you please confirm that you...

A. Formatted the USB stick to NTFS.
B. Renamed the USB stick to WINPE.
C. Copied the child files out of their containing zip & placed them directly on the USB stick (root). (If you have any other files on the USB stick (such as files for flashing a BIOS etc.) best to temporarily remove them, you can always move them back once your Z64 is running.

Sometimes the boot menu (F11) also doesn't work.

If you have the option available, try entering the BIOS & actually change the established boot order from the eMMC to the USB stick, save the settings & exit. (As soon as the system reboots if the Win installation successfully begins, you can immediately enter the BIOS again & revert the original boot order settings back to how they were, save & exit.)

Try that for now, if still no joy post back & others can add additional suggestions.

You should rather be questioning my ability to read and properly follow instructions
Seems I missed the step: "Renamed the USB stick to WINPE". Sorry about that and thanks ! The process is running now.
I hope I don't encounter any other problem.
I'm guessing the Windows 10 version won't be the latest one. Will it update itself to the latest 21H1 or do I need to manually run the update assistent?
