Netflix - can't get HD video or Digital Sound

Hello,
I have recently moved my U1 box from my living room to my basement Home Theatre and was trying to watch Netflix last night. I noticed that the picture quality is not HD, and more importantly, I wasn't getting any 5.1 surround sound from it. Instead it showed 2 Channel stereo. I tried it with both HDMI and SPID cable - same result. I was having the similar problem playing movie files from my USB drive, with VLC and other players, however, I was able to finally get digital surround sound with Kodi, after making some audio setup changes in Kodi. But no luck with Netflix or Crave though. I am still using the old firmware - do I need to update to the new one?

Needlessly to say I am a newbie and any help would be highly appreciated.
 
minix devices isn't certified by netflix so there is no 1080p or higher support and has only stereo sound. Even a cheap mi box is better for netflix.

Mi box s is Netflix certified device, so it could stream up to 4k Netflix. By the way I managed to stream netflix 1080p through kodi 18 but still got issues passthrough surround while is supported. I have minix neo u9-h

MINIX NEO U1 is not Netflix certified, so doesn't support Full 1080p HD, 4K UHD or 5.1 surround sound.
