slimBOXtv: Android 9 Pie Custom ROM for U9-H

@Almadex Thank you for your quick reply. My instance of 7.1.1 was a bit buggy but I managed to isolate the bugs through rooting the install and disabling all the unneeded installed apps. It seemed to stabilize for me. If I go to the Slimbox I assume it is not loaded with bloatware and all the regular android 9 functions still work. I might go for it just for the experience of it.

There's a new ver 9.2 for this Slimbox ROM

Wonder what's the difference to the old 15.4 version?

I'm using v15.4, unmodified hardware (ie no soldering done), hence the USB ports do not work, the MicroSD card do not work.

Using the box supplied microUSB to female type A connector, manage to offset an air mouse to at least input via the on screen keyboard. Really fast ROM

Using Nova launcher and it works fine

Hello all
First Thx @antonio6o6 for the fix with off and on.
But I have a big problem. I also have Coreelec running on the SD card. If I now do something in the Android of Slimbox that is running on my internal memory (install apps, watch TV, etc.), it happens that the files on my SD card are manipulated and Coreelec no longer starts. I then have to replace all files (aml_autoscrip, dtb, kernel.img etc.) with a copy where Coreelec was still running.
The only solution so far is always to make sure I take out the SD card when I switch to Android from Slimbox. But it's not a practical solution. I never had this problem with the original Minix Android.
Does anyone have an idea how I can turn off the write permissions on the SD card in Android? thank you for your help

I just came from the original link to the slimbox download for U9. My virus detector prevented me from completing the download because it detected a trojan virus "Spursint.F!cl" which looks like a ransomware virus. Not sure now what I should do next, but I am not using the slimbox link unless there is a version that is virus free.

Filename of the download?

I've downloaded from there several times without any warnings!

There does not appear to be any virus in the files when checking them.

This is all they contain...

Thank you Villa,

Since you are confident in them, then I suspect that if I want to download these files, then I will need to turn off Windows defender. It seems to be the only virus detector that flags this as a virus. weird !

Windows Defender's not flagging anything up for me!

I ran a malwarebytes scan against the file and there are no viruses so I will chalk it up to a false positive.
One last question. Do you flash the OS to the box first or solder the wires first. Does the order even matter ?

I've not done either, but my understanding is you can flash the device without the mod and it works just fine, only USB ports do not work!

Personally, I only need a USB port for a remote dongle but if Bluetooth works then a Bluetooth remote could be used.

The only other question is, if the device has been flashed, does the OTG port work without the mod?

Since I would use a dongle remote I would need the usb to work, hence I would be willing to solder but if the order is important then that would be nice to know. The OTG is also an important question.

If OTG is OK then surely a dongle could be connected there!?

We wait for @notrui to confirm.

I may try flashing device without mod later today!

Done already! (y)
Flashed device without mod.

Connect an OTG cable to OTG port, plug in airmouse USB dongle, all good!

@Nick.P so unless you actually need the other USB ports, you can get by using the OTG port!
Use a USB hub for more ports if needed.

If using ATV version, just using the MINIX IR remote is an option. :poop:
I tried, and although it works just fine, it is not as responsive as an airmouse!

@Nick.P
I've connected a MINIX NEO C-G with the airmouse dongle connected, a USB pendrive and a Micro SD card.
(FYI a Micro SD card in the device TF slot works also!)

The NEO C-G is connected via a USB C to USB A adapter, and the OTG cable.

The NEO C-G needs external power!
