New Minix products presented at IFA Berlin 2019

@notrui2
I know the differences: how 'bout certified Netflix (DV + DA), Youtube 4k HDR..... But owning LG c9 they are not necissary.
I'd rather buy u22xj if Minix will not make me wait for an unreasonable time.

It's the same answer I got when I asked in the late forum, why it took so long to release U9.
Seriously: announcement in september, release half a year later? Taking half a year for testing? Taken in considaration that it's not Minix' first release of a mediabox..........
Don't get me wrong, I love the Minix boxes. I've had the x5, x7 mini, x7 and now am using two U1 and a u9.
Because I upgraded my 65c7 in the livingroom to a 77c9 and my sons use the 65c7 for gaming, I'm thinking of bringing over the u9 to the gaming room and buy myself the x22. According to several sites, release will take place somewhere in november (this year). I know if release will not be in november, I will not be as patient as I was for the U9. Especially now Nvidia already have players which have the same possibilities and which can be delivered whithin a week....
I would wait til spring for the U22 vs buying the new Shield tv pro.Heck I would buy one of the cheap China boxes that outperform the Shield and alot more stable before buying the Shield.Nvidia is a company that needs to get their act together and listen to what the customers want, not bring something out and make them think it is best for them with a higher price tag.

I'm afraid release of U22-xj will be the same as release of the u9-h....
If I recall it properly, it was also announced to be released before Christmas (2016) but I had to wait for almost half a year before it was possible to purchase one. It was actually released around Easter (2017)....
Oh, well looking at the specs, it might be worth waiting for........
But knowing that the new Nvidia Shield tv 2019 (either Pro or non Pro) is already deliverable (with almost the same possibilities) I wouldn't wait too long with releasing the new boxes if I were Minix......
Hopefully, the fact that it was actually on display at the IFA in Berlin it will be released as MINIX states!

8TB HDD with or without power supply?
Doesn't this cause a problem for the device?
Key word here is POWERED. I use multiple 8TB drives in a USB SATA Dock. The SATA dock powers the drives.

You can also use a POWERED USB HUB to power multiple USB portable drives.

I routinely use two 8TB drives in a SATA dock AND two or three 2TB USB portable drives, ALL plugged into a POWERED USB HUB, with the USB HUB plugged into the Minix. That makes for 20 or 22TB on-line simultaneously.

It works. I have been running this on my U9-H for years.

My shield outperforms my U9-h by a long shot. Runs as a Plex server. I don't have these stability issues you speak of. It is still getting updates and it's older than my U9-h. I'll be buying a new shield possibly based off how satisfied I am with the current one if the performance jump to the new one is worth it. The old shield is still the most powerful box out there anyways. Do I even need the new one? Probably not.

Ok, because asking for release dates on this forum is a no-go, I thought: 'why not ask at the source?'.
So I sent a mail to the official Minix (Support) website, asking whether they could confirm that release of the NEO U22-XJ would take place in november so I could give it as a Christmas present (to myself...😉).
I was a little surprised that the answer was quite straight forward; it indicates that release will take place somewhere in the end of december. So kudoos for Minix for being this transparent; this transparancy makes me more willing to be patient for release.... I qoute:

"Hi Rick,
Many thanks for contacting us.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to confirm right now whether MINIX NEO U22-XJ will be released in time to be bought and given as a Christmas present.
It’s possible NEO U22-XJ will be available in late December, though most likely too late for Christmas.
Perhaps NEO U22-XJ is better to be given as a New Year present in January 😊
Best Regards

MINIX Technology Limited"

May I ask a question about T5? S905X2 SoC and Android 9 have Wake-on voice capability potentially, but T5 doesn't have a built-in microphone.
What will happen if I attach an external mic? Can I activate Hotword Detection?
