Seems delicious
Late last year MINIX launched a fanless mini PC called the MINIX Z100-0dB that packs a quad-core Intel N100 Alder Lake-N processor into a compact chassis with a passive heat sink, support for up to 16GB of RAM, PCIe 3.0 storage, and 2.5 GbE Ethernet connections.
Now the company has introduced a new model called the MINIX NEO 300-0dB. For the most part it looks like the same computer. But there’s one big difference: the new model has an 8-core Intel Core i3-N300 processor that should bring a big boost in CPU and graphics performance.
Both chips are low-power processors designed for small, cheap laptops, tablets, and mini desktop computers. But that also makes them a good fit for fanless systems since they don’t generate a lot of heat.
The Core i3-N300 has twice as many CPU cores, about 33% more GPU execution units, and support for higher CPU and graphics frequencies. But its processors base power consumption is only 1 watt higher than the Intel N100:
Like the quad-core model, the new MINIX NEO Z300-0dB supports WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2, and support for up to two 4K displays.
Ports include two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, two HDMI ports, a 2.5 GbE LAN port, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card reader.
And since it’s a fanless system with no moving parts, it should be able to run 24/7 without generating any noise.
