No Internet

Ok, my bad. Bad choice of words. I should have said FLASHING his firmware, not upgrading. Flashing will reset everything to point zero, and that may be what would fix his problem, as it would clear everything and start with a new slate.
Flashing is put a new or old firmware (upgrade or downgrade) in a device and will also reset everything.
Factory reset will reset everything in the device, also called as "hard reset" or "master reset", restoring the device to original OS state.

I just got my box 4 days ago, I started it, connected to wlan and it made two updates (it's on the latest now).
Now everytime I want to start an app that requires an active internet connection, wlan disconnects itself. I can't use YouTube, playstore or anything. If I don't use any apps, the wlan connection is alwaa6stable and good, but as soon as I want to use the box, it disconnects.
Please help me solve this.
I can't use internet with cable, have no access to a pc, only my smartphone.
Thank you very much for the the help and sorry for my bad English, it's not my native language.

Unfortunately Wi-Fi can sometimes be a pain when you're piggybacking off someone elses router. Obviously, you don't have total control & you also don't have root access to the router's settings to double check everything for problems.

Is your landlord using IPv6 with his router and/or does he have IPv6 enabled? If yes but he doesn't use IPv6, try disabling it on the router!!

Is your landlord using manually configured QoS that he's forgotten about?

Both can cause WiFi issues & disconnects, worth double checking if he isn't already getting annoyed with all the questions ;)!!

As with any networking issues, there are 2 places to look at first: the networking equipment (router) and the device having the issue (computer, smartphone, tablet etc.). As a first step, restart your networking equipment and device and see if that fixes the problem. As with the router, network, wifi and software problems often get fixed automatically with a simple restart. If it doesn't help you, check with the following:

  • Check Modem Lights
  • Flush your DNS
  • Change your DNS server address
  • IP address conflict
  • Outdated network driver
  • Check your ISP's status
