"No photos selected" when choosing Google Photos as screensaver

I've set Google Photos as my screensaver in the Daydream settings, but when I start the screensaver I get a blank screen with the message "No photos selected". How can I get the screensaver to show a random slideshow of all of my Google Photos?

I've never been able to get this to work on the U9-H either. Blank screen.

Backdrop works fine .

However, apparently on the U1 if you set the language to English (US), then set the screensaver you want it might work. Once set, change the language back to your regional setting.

Give it a try.

My language is already set to English (US) so I guess that fix wouldn't help me.
I don't see settings for Backdrop anywhere. Would that allow me to set a screensaver using random pics from my Google Photos collection?

You can't change the settings for it, you just get random Google Chromecast built-in backdrop pictures.

Try a 3rd party screensaver for your photos. It'll be trial & error though.

You can always create a folder with your own pictures (you can get beautiful pictures with great res online and download then also) and choose "Photo frame" or "Photo table" in the Daydream options pointing to that folder and it will produce a slideshow with your own favs. Mine is about 200 jpg pics, taking 90Mb in the disk. I can well spend this kind of disk space for such a great result. :)
