NW Connection using Ethernet

I have searched through the Forum but cannot find any thread that seems to address my issue
I am trying to connect to my broadband over the Ethernet connection instead of my WiFi. I have a good cable. I have tested my laptop on it and it connects fine. I have plugged the cable into the ethernet socket and both lights are on fine. I go to Network Settings. I have tried with Fake on and off and the Ethernet connection just does not establish. I have removed the cable and replaced several times and still no ethernet connection. Any ideas?

Ethernet connection have always Priority over wifi.
You can even have wifi enable (in minix settings) and use ethernet connection (should work well for you) (for more undestanding you can have both wifi and rj45 cable connected).

Check again your setup [cable, router, installed apps (maybe you need to remove some app...), etc... ]

Note:
With windows OS (windows 10 for example) it is the same thing (to use ethernet connection).

Other note:
Android OS:
if you want to use just wifi you need to remove rj45 cable.

Windows OS:
if you want to use just wifi you can disable ethernet connection (connection properties).

Yep, I did all of that several times. Different cables. Tested NW by connecting a Chromebook, etc.. etc.

Thanks for your replies. Really appreciate the responses.
Miraculously the NW is fixed by me going away for 24 hours and doing nothing.
This morning, I turned on the MINIX, which had gone to sleep, and hey presto Fake Wifi was now working!
Thanks

Possibly had an IP conflict with your DHCP router or network switch/device trying to assign the same IP & the conflicting IP lease eventually expired(???).

Do you use static IP's on any of your devices? If yes, make sure they're outside of the range of your assignable DHCP pool.

Rui did kind of mention it but didn't make the point clear.... Try rebooting your router/network switches should it happen again in the future ;).

Glad you're all sorted for now, however :).
