Official NEO U9-H: 008FW

It's really odd that you're experiencing these issues as you are. I'm using Minixs' stock Marshmallow (FW008) on my U9-H & my Sony AVR handles audio passthrough from Kodi absolutely perfectly. It is now truly decoding Atmos & DTS:X after I added my height speakers although I had to ensure certain settings in my AVR were correct as well. There is the possibility that the U9-H & Kodi are working as intended & it's actually our specific AVR's that could be playing a large part with this issue!!??!!??!! (Unfortunately, AVR's aren't exactly cheap so it's not like you can grab a spare & see if it all works with another make/model lol ;).)

However, my AVR essentially isn't even being recognised by Windows on my Neo N42C-4 at the moment. (Does Windows see your AVR correctly for example?). Kodi won't passthrough Atmos on that device & it's defaulting down to TrueHD 7.1!! (Windows sees my TV as the audio device instead of the AVR & oddly ignores the AVR even being there altogether.). It's a real head scratcher but the AVR itself is definitely a factor!!! (Sorry to go off topic, but it seems to be relevant.)

In Kodi on the U9-H (obviously) I enable passthrough for ALL available audio streams; otherwise:-
Output config - best match
Keep audio device alive - 2 minutes
Send low volume noise - enabled
Stereo upmix - disabled
Maintain original volume on downmix - disabled.
I've arbitrarily set the number of channels to 7.1 but it isn't used as all audio is being passed through normally & my set up is actually 5.1.2.

I suppose one way you could test it is if you have friend/family that has a different AVR to you?? Hook your U9-H up to their AVR/TV & see if the audio starts to correctly passthrough or behaves differently.

What settings are you using in the Minix audio settings as well?

on corelec its work without problem.
so i think android (fw008 our fw007) don't recognised my AVR Onkyo.
i tried all different settings but without success
on the first version that come with the box when i buy it (i think fw005 our fw006 and kodi17.3 )
i have true hd en dts hd in the options but i didn't work (no audio)

i don't think i now someone with a modern avr with true hd but i can try,
but i don't replace my avr for minix ;) maybe replace minix in the future...
but so far its works great with coreelec and easy to switch to android for other apps than kodi.
and maybe it will fixed with updates (lets hope so)

Thanks so much for all your suggestions and comments. Since I am a rather basic user I would like to use Minix official firmware.

So I would like to know what actions Minix is taking to adress this issue? I would assume dts and dolby digital should be a basic function which should work.

I also have problem with Audio drop outs in Kodi when playing Dolby Digital or DTS.

Have tried different settings but still get audio drop outs approx every 30-60s. Have Minix connected to AVR Onkyo 626.

Anyone having any workaround for this issue?

Have tried both Kodi 17.6 and new Kodi 18rc2.

Just to double check, in Kodi's settings -> System settings -> Audio.

Do you have the setting enabled to keep audio device alive and/or the setting for send low volume noise?

If they're disabled, try enabling them & try different variables with the keep audio device alive setting.

If they're already enabled, vice versa, try disabling them.

Have a play around with them, both enabled, both disabled, or only one enabled at a time. Worth looking at before throwing in the towel if it is something that simple.

Have you looked into the possibility of another app trying to take control of your audio device in the background (such as to send a notification etc.), causing the drop out & audio not properly returning back to Kodi?

mystery / random audio droputs are a fact of life unfortunately...... ive never been able to pin them down

Hi, I'm new and I've just recived My neo u9-h
Checked for update and installed... But my firmware is still FW007 Android 6.0.1.
Why? Why not FW008?
Should i update by pc?

Didn't you just add a new MicroSD card? It could be related somehow.

Did this start to happen when you added the new card? Have you tried removing the card & boot as normal?

I have the same issue in Kodi 17.6. With audio passthrough enabled, movies with DD and DTS sound have an audio dropout/gap every few minutes, which is really annoying.

Is Minix addressing this issue in the next (android 7?) firmware?

I try to download version 008FW via ota but after reboot the android robot is down and says error. I have an sd card integrated as internal memory to my box. Is it worth the time and effort to install 008fw or should i wait for the official nougat version to be released?

Ok i just did it! I migrated everything from tf card to internal storage.I formatted and removed my card and everything worked fine during the fota update. Now i have the latest version.

Tom, do you have Kodi on the setting at the bottom on your left side set to "expert"?

tempsnip.jpg

If set to expert you can select the audio to "allow passthrough".
Keep "number of channels" on 2.0

I have a Onkyo NR TX646 and all audio codecs work also DTS X and Atmos

no problems with coreelec and libreelec

but with android fimewire from minix:
no true hd en dts hd passthrough available on kodi
dolby digital and dts has audio drops on my setup

all audio formats only works when i set kodi to :
5.1 speakers and audio configuration to fixed
then the avr receive all audio formats like PCM 5.1 signal
i think it's not a big difference on audio and surround quality
but ist a little disappointing that a media box not can handle passthrough

and with a not official os (coreelec) its works without problems)

So after basically reading that entire thread and still being uncertain can someone either confirm or deny that updates are only being pushed via flash or is a version for ota to be released at some stage. If it's only available to flash where to dl that from please.

If you have read the whole thread then you will have seen the download link in the 1st post.

Updates to previous versions of the firmware were available via OTA but as this is the FINAL then there will be no more.
