Because my 15 year old AC Ryan Playon!HD media player is no longer supported, I bought the Minix Neo U22 XJ max to replace it. Howver the documentation only gives an overview of the contents of the package. But nothing on how to install what is required to play my video (video (format VIDEO_TS en VOB) and music (format WAV and MP3) backups. All stored on a 4TB hdd.
Since I am an absolute ignoramus of 78 years, I beg someone on this forum to help me with the required steps to install whatever is necessary to play my videos and music.

Thanks in advance, Ron VerdonkI

Hi,

It's an android device so you can install any Android applications on it.
You can find good tutorials on Youtube which provide good help for choosing an app or install and use it.

Try the words : VLC, KODI, PLEX...

Install VLC Player from Playstore should be a good place to start, but Playstore requires a Gmail account login so put that on your U22 if you have not done so already. I would ensure a power source for your HDD, should it not have one then provide a USB powered hub to take care of that potential issue. then see how it goes. Skynet's advice is the way to go with regard finding apps that might suit you best, I personally do not like Kodi, it seems always in update revision, so unless you are familiar with Kodi and setting it up I would pass on that for the time being and test the various suggestions that Playstore offer, that should get you on the right path.. Oh .... age is just a number don't let that put you off I am 74 :) but don't look it :)

Thank you very much! I will try it this weekend because I have to acquire a power based usb hub first. Thanks again.
