Problems with some keys

Hi,
i have the following problems:
- "minimize window" key doesn't work at all
- "delete" key only works when "Fn" is selected, otherwise it doesn't do anything

the second issue is really annoying.

Keyboard layout in windows is correctly set, all other keys work flawlessly.

Hope someone can help.

Hey Max80,

Have just been checking/retesting both of my W2's for you. (I use mine more as remotes in conjunction with a seperate wireless keyboard. I rarely use them for typing, they're very handy for short/quick inputs but can become a bit awkward if typing anything of any length/substance.)

My minimise keys function normally & as expected on both W2's. (It actually behaves more like a hotkey/macro in that it brings up the dialog for selecting move, size, minimise, maximize, etc., before automatically selecting the minimise option. (If that makes sense!!??))

My backspace/delete keys have always behaved the same as you describe when it comes to deleting individual text/characters. (The only workaround I've found is to first highlight a word or a selection of text, then it works without first using Fn. However, by the time you've turned the W2 over & back again to achieve that, obviously it's easier to just hit the Fn key if you just need to delete one or two characters.)

If used to delete a selected item, file, etc., however, it then functions immediately without having to first select Fn. (I.e. a file selected/highlighted in Windows explorer.)

It was always my assumption that this was intentional with two x W2's behaving the same way on two different systems. (Yes, it is vaguely annoying lol. Not quite sure why it was programmed in that manner!!??)

(I wish they'd put the fly mode button in the same position as the A series remotes as well. I'm forever exiting apps by mistake in Windows with the W2 out of habit of enabling/disabling the fly mode on an A series lol ;)!!)

If your minimise button is completely inoperable you may have a defective unit, but it does seem that the backspace/delete button function is intentional with the W2.

Hope that helps :).

Totally agree.
Another issue I noted is that in tablet mode a lot of "utility" keys doesn't work, but for my use is not an issue at all.
Something quite unacceptable on a Windows dedicated remote is that CTRL+key combinations are impossible to do... .

Noone has found a solution for DEL key "inverted" behaviour?

I think it's hard programmed that way bud!!

It's important to remember that they're not really designed to outright replace a normal keyboard. They're designed to be a remote with a useful keyboard for those times when you're using a Windows mini PC as an entertainment system to give you the convenience of a small remote package when a full sized keyboard just isn't required ;).

@max80 I have to agree with you!

Somehow MINIX have got the Backspace and Delete the wrong way round.

The A3 remote has the correct orientation!

delete" key only works when "Fn" is selected,
Actually it is "Backspace" that only works when "Fn" is selected.
"Del" deletes, but the text in front of the cursor! As it does with a normal keyboard.

I think formally you're right, but for this remote purpose and user experience, I think every user would expect the DEL key to delete last inserted char.

What is the difference between the del and Backspace keys?

Both the Del or Delete key and Backspace key are used to delete text. However, when dealing with text, pressing the Del key deletes text to the right of the cursor. Pressing the Backspace key deletes text to the left (backwards) of the cursor. For example, if you click at the end of the example text below and press delete, nothing will happen because there's no text to the right. However, if you press the Backspace key, the end of the text would begin to be deleted.

Yup, you're right, well spotted ;) They are reversed to the actual purpose of the button/keypress.

Obviously someone at MINIX has made a small error when programming the key mapping. Ooops!!
