I purchased an N42C-4 with N4200 processor, but when I check in the computer information, it says I have a J4205 processor. The box even says N4200 processor. It seems J4205 is better than N4200, but is it possible this could be a counterfeit/tampered with unit?

I doubt a counterfeit device would have an upgraded CPU.

I wouldn't worry! :)

I'm not aware of whether earlier models were shipped with Intel N4200 then newer shipped with J4205 but I do know MINIX changed the Z83-4 from Intel Z8300 to Z8350.

I'm sure @MINIX - John can confirm if the CPU has changed in newer models.

With the NEO N42C-4 model, MINIX is proposing a compact, silent and good quality chassis Mini PC which features a very important aspect: upgradability; the enclosure is fairly easy to open for maintenance (upgrades/dust cleaning) and the motherboard features a beefy cooling system that barely needs to turn the fan on, thanks to the low-TDP SoC used with the system. Talking about the SoC, we do get the 4-core Pentium J4205 on the 14nm technology process that also comes with HD Graphics 505, perfectly capable of 4K output and video playback.

This from a reseller description...
Intel Apollo Lake J4205 Intel HD Graphics 505 / Expandable 4TB 2.5 inch SSD / 4GB DDR3L + 32GB EMMC + 128GB SSD / 2.4GHz + 5GHz WiFi

Recent production batches have switched to Intel Pentium J4205 CPU, offering slightly improved performance compared to N4200 CPU.
So, NEO N42C-4 is now available for a cheaper price with improved performance :)

Thank you very much for the reply. Didn't see much documentation if at all on it, but that's good to hear it's a slight upgrade.
