record live TV

Hi. I have a Neo U1and use it for streaming live broadcast TV (via Freeview app), and catch-up/on demand TV (via official apps downloaded from Google Play). I'd like to be able to attach a HDD via USB socket and record live broadcast TV, including future shows programmed to record via EPG. Is it possible, please? Is there a ready made guide for this (I couldn't find one)? Thanks v.m.

Wouldnt that depend on whether the offical apps had a record/download feature ?

I think the only way would be to use screen capture which then means you have to leave the live broadcast on screen.

What live broadcast content are you interested in?

The point of On Demand/Catch-Up TV is that you don't need to record anything!

Hi. Yes, I suppose it could depend on the record functionality being available in those apps (and it's not).

On the Kodi Wiki I've read about adding tuner cards to a PC run with PVR backend software and Kodi itself on top. And such a system allows for recording live TV. Obviously the Neo U1 isn't a PC. But perhaps Kodi on the Neo U1 can be configured with a HDD to do something equivalent...?

Recording is very handy if you want to fast-forward through advertisements...
