Repeat keypress timing

Is there any way to alter the timing of repeat keypresses in Kodi 18.1?

My A2 Lite keypresses are all too often interpreted as multiple keypresses, when in fact it is a single keypress.

I am running CoreElec 9.0.1 internally on a U9-H.
