Apps failing on HDMI or reporting root despite Fake HDMI active and root switch off (here)
Do those apps function though?Just unboxed my NEO U22-XJ and some apps (CTV, TVNZ, COSMOTE TV GO, MAGENTA TV) say my new box is rooted when it is not. Or is it?
I am allowed to launch these apps, but when I try to play video/streaming content I get a message saying that rooted devices are not supported.Do those apps function though?
How can Root Switch resolve my issue? No it's not!
This issue is already noted as a bug.

FYI the latest firmware does include a Root switch.

It can't!How can Root Switch resolve my issue?
Just a word of warning before you try anything related to removing root from the U22, I tried it by installing SuperSU and this caused a bootloop, same as this fellow:How can Root Switch resolve my issue?
In my opinion, the problem stems from two "su" files I found in "system" directory; one in "/system/bin" and one in "/system/xbin".
I do not intend to try anything related to rooting my device. Nevertheless, I am pretty convinced that the issue is generated by these two "su" files I found in "system" directory; one in "/system/bin" and one in "/system/xbin". My other two MINIX devices (NEO X8-H & NEO X8-H PLUS) are working just fine with these apps and guess what; they both lack these suspicious "su" files.Just a word of warning before you try anything related to removing root from the U22, I tried it by installing SuperSU and this caused a bootloop, same as this fellow:

The only way they can do this is to release two versions of the firmware, one with the root files and one without, unless of course they can perfect the mask when the Root switch is deactivated.I want to believe that MINIX takes this issue seriously into consideration and will resolve it in an upcoming firmware update.
I think you misunderstood me, it was the attempt to unroot that I was trying to warn you about, so far this has not ended well for those who have tried. You do not need to root your device as it has an inbuilt root switch "Setting/Device Preferences/System root" where you can either activate or deactivate root.I do not intend to try anything related to rooting my device.
Yes, you are 100% correct, these files and daemonsu are required for root, if an app is looking for these files on install or loading and finds them then it will report root, they are on the U22 to allow the user to switch on root if required. This has been reported in the bugtracker:I am pretty convinced that the issue is generated by these two "su" files

Do we know if these were there before the root switch was added?they are on the U22 to allow the user to switch on root if required.
They were not on V002, I did a ROM comparison. I think prior root reports might have been to do with busybox, not sure though.Do we know if these were there before the root switch was added?
This issue I reported way back when we first received the device.
I confirm that besides "su", also "daemonsu" resides in "/system/bin" of my NEO U22-XJ.The only way they can do this is to release two versions of the firmware, one with the root files and one without, unless of course they can perfect the mask when the Root switch is deactivated.

Random!!So this is why I get a warning when using Zoom?
Not sure if you read this:Is it a fix for this ?

This has been reported in the bugtracker
As long as it is working and you do not have the root switch activated in settings then I would ignore this message as in this state the device is not rooted.I get "Your device appears to be rooted . This may result in private data being lost , crashes , and other errors . We do not recommend using Zoom with your rooted device. " I have to have Zoom for work so looks like I need to purchase another U9 today .
Zoom does not play . I get no sound .As long as it is working and you do not have the root switch activated in settings then I would ignore this message as in this state the device is not rooted.
No matter if you ignore the message "Your device is rooted" or not, the bitter fact is that all those apps mentioned above WILL NOT WORK in U22-XJ, regardless of the root switch turned on or off.As long as it is working and you do not have the root switch activated in settings then I would ignore this message as in this state the device is not rooted.
It's working for me, are you sure you don't have microphones muted? What is your setup so I can try help.Zoom does not play . I get no sound .
