Samba/SMB name of U9-H

Hello,

Does U9-H have any name (as opposed to just IP address) under which it is available as samba server?

I meant the part that would replace 192.168.0.15 in your example. I access other devices by name in my LAN - \\nas, \\piplayer etc.

You can do it with the Hosts windows file
It's working as a local DNS

Open the hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc with administrative rights
add a line with (example) :
piplayer 192.168.0.15

I know I can do it with hosts file etc. I just want to know if there is any real name, as smbclient or smbtree show nothing.

Not sure what you want to say by that, but CIFS/SMB machines have names assigned by themselves. In Samba it's "netbios name" set in smb.conf, in Windows it's what you can display with hostname command.
