[SOLVED] Replace custom firmware with stock? X68i (Industrial)

OK then, I tried.
Off to the recycler....
Thanks everyone!
That's odd because I believe the X68-i to be an Octa-Core device and a different chipset!

X68-i is our most advanced industrial solution, based on an Octa-Core ARM Cortex-A53 processor (RK3368) with PowerVR G6110 GPU and comes pre-installed with Android 5.1.1

Saw that while doing the Google search... it's a mystery.
Just for giggles I fired off an email to MINIX support. See if they want to do anything.
Once you get in to industrial/commercial territory, the rules change a lot.

It's not like I'm worried about warranty or anything, maybe I'll take a screwdriver to it and see what chip is in it.
I know it's not supported in this Forum, and I'll stop posting if that's a hard rule, but I will follow-up if it's allowed and anyone is curious to know.

It's really just an unwritten rule and officially MINIX don't offer support for industrial models here in the Forum.

Yup, a wolf in sheeps's clothing! Looks like they packed it in either the wrong plastic or what they had surplus of.
MINIX Support did supply a new image and Rockchip ROM flashing tool and I got it to work. Not sure if the instructions aren't as precise as they could be or the Rockchip tool is fiddly but got it.
The box is a RK3368-box Octocore with 12Gb storage.
The image supplied is Marshmallow 6.0.1

For anyone else with a similar situation, the ROM is here:
https://files.theminixforum.com/shared/firmwares/X68-i-Android_6.0-20170731.img

The tool is here:
https://files.theminixforum.com/sha...firmware tool for win10 FactoryTool_v1.33.zip

I have attached the English instructions support provided in the email, but I'll add that what finally worked was holding the Recovery button in for 7 seconds (not the power button), and it says the firmware tool software will detect the MINIX box automatically and the big pink/red button will turn green.
That was not the case for me. You have to look down the list of USB ports and make sure that it detects the MINIX box as "Loader". Then click on restore and it was off to the races. It took me a couple of attempts to power up with the Recovery button so that the application saw "Loader" and not "ADB". Timing holding the button down is everything.
They're not kidding when they say have patience for the first reboot. Go make a coffee.....

I'm planning on loading Kodi on it for now and then see what else I can get it to do.

Once again, thanks to all!

Excellent! :)
Title edited to include [SOLVED]
Thread moved to Rockchip Forum.

These versions are working very well for me but there is no incompatibility with the hbo app. Any ideas of what to do?
thanks to all!

https://files.theminixforum.com/shared/firmwares/X68-i-Android_6.0-20170731.img

They don't work, they blink but don't load. It's probably because of my configuration or because I'm new to the forum, is it possible?

Edit: I have used the link by pasting into the browser up to the tools section and have been able to do so. Thanks

I had an issue in that there was a message that said the file was not secure. I just had to agree to download it!

I get an error when trying to flash the device.
Id2 test device fail
The device tells me it is a Neo x68-i with android 5.1.1 is a rockchip 3368.
What can I do? is it the right image?

Have you checked that the device is detected in Loader mode and not ADB as @gizwiz1 informed?

Sorry for writing to old thread. Is there newer firmware to Neo x68-i than Android 6.0.1 ?

will answer to anyone who is looking. There is no newer official firmware. If there is unofficial, let me know :)
