i recently updated my movie collected and i even bought a brand new 4TB hard drive to put my new files in... i have one or two folders which dont seem to appear on my MINIX... i tried to browse through the folder contents with the default FILEBROWSER app included in my unit and also with the KODI app... the folder appears to be empty...

i have 20 TV series in the new drive and 19 of those were updated in my KODI library... one title though cant be updated... and the folder content appears empty when i browse through it...

no idea if it is relevant but the main folder is named ROME [2005] and it has two subfolders, Season 01 and Season 02... the main folder appears empty like i said...

the files show up on windows explorer though and i can watch the videos just fine on my laptop

I'd also try another file browser to the very basic one that's pre-installed. (Let's find out if this is an issue with a specific app or apps first or if it's universal.)

What format is the external HDD? (I.e. NTFS etc.). I've successfully used multiple 8 TB HDD's directly connected to the U9-H & all were formatted in NTFS, for example.

I use File Commander (premium) myself which suits my needs just fine if you want to give it a trial. Otherwise, the U9-H also has ES File Explorer pre-installed, (although it became a highly controversial app & was eventually removed from the Play Store but the version installed on the U9-H may be earlier before the suspicious behaviour was added). Alternatively, X-plore (free or paid) is a popular option for a file explorer these days as well.

Any difference using a different file browser or still the same issue?

How are you trying to view these files in Kodi as well? Have you specifically added your external HDD as a source? (Yes, there is more than one way to view/access your media ;).). Have you scanned the Rome TV series to your library in Kodi & you're trying to access them via the TV series library sub menu? Or, are you simply trying to access them directly from your media sources under the videos sub menu?

the hard drive format is FAT32... im currently moving 2TBs of files to my other external drives so i can change the format to NTFS? or is there a way to format it without moving the files? im a noob at these things lol...

i have 2 5TB drives that are NTFS formatted that i have been using without problems as well... i was so excited to transfer my new videos i forgot to format the new one before starting the transfer..

i tried several ways to view the folders in KODI, but i havent had any success... the ROME [2005] folder appears but the sub-folders doesnt...
my drive directory looks like this

E:\[H265 TV Series]\Rome [2005]

every other Series in the H265 TV Series folder was added to my Kodi Library successfully except for Rome [2005]...

the drive is still formatted as FAT32... im moving files right now so i can reformat it to NTFS

FAT32 could well be the problem & it's quite restrictive for maximum file sizes these days anyway, (4 GB limit).

Obviously, formatting will wipe all data so move the Rome TV series elsewhere first & transfer it back on to the drive once formatting is complete.

With Kodi I'd also try using (parentheses) brackets as well rather than the [ square]. (I.e. Rome (2005).). Or, just name the folder "Rome" & when Kodi scrapes for the info it will offer you one or more options for series of the same name & you can manually select Rome (2005) from the available options to scrape the correct information. (You can do a search for "Kodi naming conventions TV shows" for more info as well if it will help Kodi to scrape more efficiently for you :).)

Files being moved... moving almost 2TBs of videos sucks though... thanks for the tips... will browse through those naming conventions later on

Can you change the folder name (ex : Rome (2005) or even Rome 2005 ) ?
If formatting to ntfs doesnt work i will try this suggestions out... though other folders like 24 [2001], Suits [20xx] and a dozen others were all successfully added to my kodi library...

You need to rename correctly your TV shows like this S for Season and E for episode example : Friends s01e01 , Friends s01e02...

After rename all movies and TV shows correctly the scrabber make the rest

Try to put only one movie (no more folders) into the ROME [2005] folder and check again.
I don't think it's a NTFS or FAT32 issue as you can access most files with your current filesystem.
