Sony wh-1000xm3

I am trying to connect my Sony WH-1000xm3 bluetooth headphones to my Neo u1,I’m running the most up to date official firmware. I can pair the headphones ok but there is no sound.. Shows paired under Bluetooth setting with a headphone icon to the left and headphones indicate they are connected. Main setting menu under Remote &settings it shows WH-1000XM3 but with a joystick icon. I go to the sound output setting the only options that appear are HDMI or Auto. From reading previous threads it sounds like the headphones should be there as an available output option. I have tried this as suggested in another thread “if paired try turning bluetooth off and then on again making sure the speakers are powered on with a bit of luck your speakers will then be visible in your sound output options“, but no luck. I have also tried this option suggested in another thread “I tried to unpair the headphones and then pair them again but this time I placed the headphones very close to the Mi I’d box when pairing” unfortunately this did not work.any suggestions?9FEC6A9A-31E2-49CF-830E-54275A50BFCA.jpeg

Did some more forum reading and came across a suggestion to uninstall apps not being used, it worked successfully for op, so I uninstalled all apps I don’t use and it worked.

Haha, spoke to soon...worked while listening to music but then I went to watch a movie on Kodi it stopped working. now it doesn’t show in Output devices...very frustrating

Is the firmware fully up to date on your XM3's?

They're not the best headset for watching movies either unfortunately. They can be fairly laggy & at times AV sync can aggressively wander up & down.

You want the sound output setting set to AUTO.

Don't forget to turn off passthrough in Kodi if you use it. Otherwise, you may also need to tinker with some of Kodi's system audio settings as well.

the headset firmware is 4.2.2 and I believe that is the updated firmware..I ended up completing a factory reset which seemed to fix the problem...I reinstalled my apps but shortly thereafter the problem was back...I did another factory reset and the problem wasn’t fixed..

i was also looking at the Bose 700 but they were $100 more than the Sony, would the Bose 700 be a better option for watching movies using Kodi?

Have you also tried factory resetting the XM3's as well? (I've had to reset mine a couple of times after connectivity issues.)

Couldn't comment subjectively on the Bose, I don't own any.

I rarely use headphones for watching TV/movies but for the times I do I use an older pair of Plantronics Backbeat Pro's. They're nowhere near as laggy as my XM3's.

Look for a headset with the APTX HD codec. If they're just for watching TV/movies too, you don't need to spend a fortune either. (I.e. keep the XM3's for your music but consider a different cheaper headset for movies etc.) There are plenty of cheaper models around that have virtually no lag at all. Google ;).

i did another factory reset on the neo and it has connected without issue...have achieved consistent connection for the last 24hrs, so I am happy. I rarely use headphones for watching movies aswell but sometimes the need to use headphones has arisen, so I will see if I can handle the lag...if I can’t handle the lag then I will look into a cheaper pair of headphones with APTX HD codec. I appreciate your quick replies.

No worries :). Don't forget you can factory reset the XM3's themselves as well. It may help, it may not obviously.

You can directly adjust for the AV sync using Kodi which actually works well as long as the lag remains relatively constant. The real problems arise when the lag starts to vary due to other factors & you end up constantly chasing the AV sync up & down lol ;). It's a problem that the XM3's unfortunately suffer from more so than other headsets.

For mobile music, they're outstanding, no complaints there at all :).

I did do a factory reset on the XM3’s as well but no change..I found the app that was creating this mess, openvpn.. I tested this several times, before app install all was good, after openvpn app install problem returned. So I installed another VPN app and haven’t has the issue return. Thanks for the Kodi tip, I will keep and eye on it. Like I said I don’t watch movies using headphones much anyways. Yeah I am loving the mobile sound and the noise canceling(i am new to this technology) I was also interested in the new Bose 700, watched many video reviews and read several online reviews and they are very close but with some differences ie Sony is more base focused and Bose is more crisp and clear...with Sony being $150 cheaper(on sale) than the Bose, it was a no brainer ?
