Hi,
My MINIX sound disappears for 1-3 minutes when I watch movies. It happens about 5 times per hour. The movie is going on but sound disappears.
How to solve such an issue?

Hi. Please tell us more details:

-what device do you have?
-using kodi? (What version)
-streaming from local or internet?
-it happens in all movies ?

and what your audio /speakers device are and how they are setup, wired and configured ?

Thank you for response guys - my MINIX NEO x8-H is connected to Amplituner Yamaha RX-V583 via HDMI. Please see the configuration details on the attached photos. The issue happens when I am watching videos on Netflix, youtube and web browser or listen to Spotify. The movie is not corrupted or slow only sound disappears. I noticed that Yamaha lost signal from MINIX for 1-3 seconds (sorry for the mistake in the previous post there should by 1-3 seconds instead of minutes). The issue doesn't happen when using Nintendo also connected to Yamaha or listen Spotify and net radio directly from Yamaha. In my opinion, the problem is not an internet connection it is rather related to the configuration but I have no idea how to fix it.

@grykar
Its a long time since I've used a x8-H but as you are connectong via HDMI to your amp i would set the Digital Audio output to HDMI

Thanks - I have set up the Digital Audio output to HDMI. Unfortunately, it doesn't solve the issue.

Is the Dolby DRC setting set to LINE?

Have you tried troubleshooting with the digital audio auto detection both on and off as well? (I would think it would work better off, but try both ways.)

Have you tried another proven HDMI cable?

Yes, Dolby DRC is set to LINE cable is not the reason I have changed it. Probably there is high time to upgrade MINIX to new one :)

I purchased a Yamaha RX-V685 a few months ago and it's worked perfectly up until recently. The sound has now started cutting out specifically when I'm using my Neo-u9 media player. When it does cut, the sound will stop for about half a second and all the speakers will disappear off the display of the receiver. The image is not impacted.

I've done some research and found that power could be an issue. Originally I had the receiver plugged into a surge protector power board when this issue began. As an attempt to remedy I plugged it into a standalone power board as I thought perhaps it was drawing too much power. Everything worked for fine for about 2-3 weeks and then it started doing it again. I then plugged it directly into the wall outlet and had the same 2-3 week period where it was fine and it started again. I switched the adapter, again it worked for a couple of weeks and has since started again.

It appears to be the media player, however I just cant wrap my head around why switching the adapter/outlet results in perfect playback for 2-3 weeks and then the issue returns. Any help will be appreciated

Hey and welcome :).

In your second paragraph you indicated it was your receiver that was possibly drawing too much power & that you tried the receiver in different electrical outlets? However, your third paragraph seems to suggest that you're unplugging the U9-H every 2-3 weeks & trying that in different outlets?

Can you please clarify which is which?

If it's the AVR..... I doubt switching adapters or direct to a wall outlet plays any part, it's the fact that you're completely powering the AVR down/hard reset that's possibly helping there. (Is your AVR ordinarily still powered on albeit in standby when not in use?) Given that these issues actually seem to be coming from your AVR rather than the U9-H; I'd try factory resetting the AVR, it literally only takes 10 mins to put all the settings back where you had them before. See what comes of that.

I have a Sony AVR which briefly experienced similar issues after a firmware update. A factory reset immediately resolved the problem. It's not uncommon at all for firmware updates to affect AVR's in various ways, (regardless of the manufacturer).

Try that first & see how things pan out, if nothing else to eliminate it as a possible cause before we we start to troubleshoot your U9-H which could well involve a factory reset of that device as well. (Better to eliminate the simplest option first IMHO ;).)

Failing the factory reset of the AVR or your post has been misunderstood, let us know & we'll help you troubleshoot the U9-H itself :).
