ssd drive disappeared.

New to this forum and looking for some help. My minix has been running fine for a few years now. has had the upgrades since new 8gb ram and a minix 128gig ssd. Window popped up the bsod and decided to rebuild itself. Now I have just the original 32g emmc drive showing and no ssd. I have ordered a new 256g m2 2280 sata card from amazon but it will take a few weeks to arrive here. Fortunately I have most of my files backed up but the disk space is miniscule on the emmc. I have followed the guide to put the files from the windows update 1903 onto a usb stick. I also have a 256g sata drive with a usb adapter from an old laptop and was wondering if that could be enabled as a boot drive using the information from the usb update?
 
Well I tried, but windows will not boot from the usb sata. Just have to be patient and wait for the new m2 to arrive.
 
Fitted a 256gb m2 sata ssd from Timetec. Unable to get the USB updates to work, possibly due to an old bios (april 2018) Tried all 4 listed but no go. Cloned the inbuilt 32gb drive using macrium reflect and then allowed windows to do the slow process of upgrading instead. all now working and back to civilised space and speed.
