Stock XBMC or Kodi questions

I've already read that we're not supposed to ask Kodi-related questions in this forum, but looking around I couldn't find any definitive answers.

So, I have a couple of questions:
1) I have an external HDD with my media directly connected to the U1. It is my understanding that all XBMC-related cache (thumbnails, movie/tv info, etc.) is stored in the U1 internal memory. Is there any way to make it store it on the HDD to free up some memory for the U1?
2) Does the latest version of Kodi from the App Store support full hardware acceleration on the U1? I was under the impression that only the original stock XBMC does, but looking here https://kodi.wiki/view/Android_hardware I see that the S905 is supported on Kodi, too, so I'm a bit confused.

Thanks in advance.

To answer your initial concern - You may openly discuss Kodi inclusive of any add-ons that are in the official Kodi repository :). (Discussion of all other 3rd party add-ons (or builds) is not permitted!!)

Otherwise, I don't own a U1 so I'll leave the specifics of your other questions to those who do.
