It still wouldn't be Netflix certified!

The T5 is far from “ useless ” as you put it ....being Google certified is a huge step in the right direction for MINIX

With more competition coming for Netflix perhaps they might start to loosen the reins a bit on who they certify !;)

It's useless to the average user ...I don't see an ounce of usefulness of being Google Certified just mumbo jumbo of Google ads !
I can now only recommend the T5 in 2-3 years when it hits the discount bin like the X6 for under $30usd !

So, I"ve read through this thread and I'm still a bit confused and scratching my head... So, hopefully this is a good place to put this...
I have 3 Minix U1 devices still running the last firmware that was released, and I'm at Kodi 16 or 17 at this point... everything seems to work... I have a number of applications I run either on Kodi or a number of Video Add ons I also use Plex extensively running several NAS devices for storage, Music, Video and photos. Not sure why, but 4k video seems to struggle when running on one of my 4Ktvs... but I can run Amazon Prime Video 4k on my TV with no issues, So I am wondering if it's the U1

I guess what I am looking for is and easy explanation of why I should upgrade to a T5 device. I run a 1GB network hard wired to each smart TV, NAS and Minix U1. like I said, I am not familiar with Android TV at all...

Throw this in we also use Roku devices to run on our NAS and 4K videos streamed on the Roku off the NAS stream perfectly.... I have the RoKu Ultra media boxes.

Hope you folks could give me a good explination of the T5 over the U1... the cost isn't the issue, its all the time it takes to set these things up and make sure everything works :)

In February, we’ll post a new product comparison chart so it’s easier to understand but the simplest way I can explain our Android Media Hub product range is:

NEO U1 was our flagship model from late-2015 to early-2017.

NEO U9-H became our flagship model from early-2017.

And soon NEO U22-XJ will become our flagship model.

NEO U9-H was the successor of NEO U1, and NEO U22-XJ will be the successor of NEO U9-H.

So, if you’re considering replacing your NEO U1 with another high-end model then NEO U22-XJ will be a good option [more about NEO U22-XJ soon].

---

NEO T5 is intended more to be a replacement of NEO X6, which while not the most talked about media hub on the forum was a popular model for us.

NEO T5’s SRP is much lower than NEO U1 ever was, and it’s our cheapest model now.

Android TV OS offers ease-of-use and we believe NEO T5 offers great performance and value-for-money, you can read this user’s review of NEO T5 here:

Thanks John, since we try to stick with a unit for a long time we usually go for the top models so I will look forward to seeing what the U22-xj will offer.... but I have to say, our U1 has been rock solid for us... no really any complaints... As more and more 4K content becomes available I"m sure I'll be looking for a better performance for that.

You will have to wait until all specs and details for the U22 are known before you will have your answer. This thread is for the T5 so it is going off track and will be locked.

NEO U22-XJ has been designed to be as future-proof as possible, so I'm sure it'll serve you just as long as your NEO U1 has :)

Like all our media hubs, NEO U22-XJ will receive firmwares updates that add new features and improvements
