Terrible 4k performance

I just got a new z83-4 Home and 4k performance is really horrible. 4k mkv videos and 4k youtube videos all play but with a lot of lag and stuttering. I've tried a fresh install with latest firmware but still the same issues. These same files play on my U9 with no problems. The z83-4 is supposed to play 4k no problems so does anyone have any ideas? Or could I have a defective machine?

My experience is that the Neo Z83-4 technically supports 4K video but it is pretty much unusable. As well as the issues that you described it only plays 4K at 30 frames per second which I find very uncomfortable to watch.

Hello
have you tried to update graphics hd intel to the version of 15/11/2019 20.19.15.5107 with intel assistant tool?

Hello
my z83-4 pro goes well without clicks and without problems both in videos and on you tube , if you tried to reinstall the drivers and you do not solve try to install from the start Windows 10 from usb.

What's your source? (HDD, SSD, USB flash, digital cards, NAS, etc.?)

Are the source files themselves SDR or are you using HDR files despite the Z83-4 not being HDR capable anyway?

What's the audio format of the files?

Have you tried an advanced settings XML file with Kodi?

Is your Kodi relatively light or loaded up with builds or heavy add-ons?

If you're streaming over your LAN, obviously that's yet another kettle of fish altogether too!!!

Do you have antivirus apps, anti malware, or a full security suite installed? (Some can seriously hog resources, for example.)

Please give more information on what you have or haven't tried so far too!! There's potentially a lot of variables involved ;).

I'm trying it on a fresh install without any other apps installed. The source files include SDR and are run from an external USB hard drive

The thing is, before we even get to all that, it doesn't even play 4k Youtube videos. For example, the following video will only play on 1080p smoothly

It's frustrating because I bought this to replace an older Minix Windows machine so that I could play 4k but it has similar performance to the older machine it replaces. At least it can play 1080p x265 which my older machine cannot. I'm just disappointed because I've always liked Minix quality, this is my 3rd Minix system
