As you probably know Amazon user reviews can either make or break a new product in a matter of weeks. Especially during the short after launch window when all products are struggling to create traction. Well, I was just looking at the review situation for the T5 and it looks like this:
As you can see it only has a 3.7 I know that when I shop I am wary of anything under a 4.0 Even better if it's a 4.5. 5's, in my opinion, are too good to be true. My wife would certainly give me less than a 5
. Yes, even with the ridiculous bogus Vine reviews and fakes it still has its place.
What's also troublesome is that there are only 9 reviews, even though the T5 has been out for some time now. It should have at least 20 positive reviews to attain the critical level where it looks like a viable choice. I also look at the percentages when I am shopping. 45% thought it was unworthy of a 4 or 5 star. Frankly, if I had only relied on these reviews I would not have bought it. Good thing I came to this forum and got the real story behind this hidden gem!
If you have time to read the negative reviews. one is the Netflix thing, but that is due to Netflix's extreme hubris! Nothing we can do about that. But mark my words, Netflix's best days are behind it. Their business model is unsustainable, the new competitors will eventually eat its lunch and it will get its just desserts for its arrogance. Netflix will be yesterday's news.
The others are Internet Einsteins who know absolutely nothing about everything and love to write quickly, while their sparse neurons are firing slowly. I was in a grumpy mood that day (watch the great classic: "Grumpy Old Men" and you'll understand) so I flamed them quite mercilessly. It's a wonder Amazon didn't delete my flames.... maybe because I am actively supporting Bezos' alimony payments to his Ex?
The problem is that these Internet Zombies (Let's name them "The Typing Dead") can unwittingly destroy a product exactly when it is vulnerable and trying to get off the ground. Call it the Doofus Effect!
So, why concern yourself with a company's business? You ask. A self-serving reason would be: when the box succeeds updates are more prevalent and the update period lasts longer. A more altruistic motive would be: this box is underrated and flies under the radar, let's get it out there and fill this forum with a lot more activity!
So I put my keyboard where my mouth is and first I flamed the retards, then I posted a glowing review of the box and the forum.
I know most of you are not retired in Paradise with time on your hands, but perhaps you could write a few short words about your experience with the T5. Maybe squeeze in a few positives about the forum too? Then click on those stars?
No problem if you didn't purchase at Amazon. They accept reviews from outside buyers. They just don't tag it as "verified purchase" ... but who cares?
I'm not sure of the situation in the UK, Canada, and other Amazons. How is the T5 doing in your neck of the woods?
