Tip: Android split screen

Just thought I'd share a cool feature with U22-XJ

If you hold down the square on screen button (app switcher) you can have split screen view, two apps open side by side!

Wouldn't have ever known this if I didn't do it by accident ?

Can you confirm that this feature also works by long-pressing on the app switcher button using a mouse?

I am confused because Minix told me earlier this year that this feature was not available on the NEO U22.

Thanks.

I actually believe it does! (In a way, as I am not quite sure of what you mean by "app switcher button" in a mouse.)

Pull up the status bar from the bottom of the screen by placing the arrow in the bottom of the screen and simultaneous long press the left mouse button while pulling the arrow up (assuming you have the standard functions assigned to the mouse buttons).

Click the square icon in the status bar to access the recent apps.

Move the arrow to one of the apps that you wish to move and, while long pressing the left mouse button, move it to the left or right side of the screen. An area will show from which the screen will be divided in two.

I don't recall when the feature was included but I suspect that it was not present in the first (or first few) firmwares.

Thanks for the replies.

I was wrong in saying 'appswitcher'. I should, of course, have said 'long left press on the recent apps symbol'.

I have found this feature very useful on boxes pre-Android 9. But the problem was that the CPUs of the time did not really have the power to run 2 apps lag-free simultaneously.

So, when Beelink came out with a U22 box, I bought one assuming that it would have this feature, which it doesn't.

Will place an order for a Minix Neo U22 today.

Great! I ordered one purely on the basis of this thread.

GBP125 wasted if the last comment is true.

You're better off ordering a windows mini pc, I already regret buying it. This box although more powerful has less basic features than my Minix U1, you can't copy text in browser, you can't scroll in browsers with the airmouse unless you're using the Dpad on the airmouse which is slow. There's a workaround but you need to install older browser versions some of which have site rendering issues. There's a lot of headache using this compared to the previous versions of Minix Android boxes. We got a hardware upgrade at the cost of a software downgrade.

Give it time, like all Minix boxes they are working on getting these issues resolved, if you look back on previous boxes then the evidence is there with all the firmware updates before they were good and stable, U22 will be the same. Cheap boxes come out with the release firmware and that is where it ends!!

It doesn't work that feature, I'm using A2 lite airmouse.
The apps you are using have to support this feature.

Note app on the right still in recent apps/app switcher does not support split screen.

If you haven't already dragged an app to the left or right and you try with an app without the support it does not tell you this but just snaps back to the centre.

Here it works with Chrome and BBC iPlayer

I don't use this feature but have just been having a play and it is not infallible! :(
It does work now for me as well, I don't know which version of firmware I was using but yesterday after I managed to brick my box after a firmware update, I was forced to flash a new firmware to unbrick it, so with this version 4 it does work, even the wifi is faster, so a bad thing turned up to be a good thing.
