Hi, Hope all is well. I am new here and I would like to get some help. If my questions have been answered elsewhere, please kindly point me to that link.

I live in the US, and am looking to buy a TV box that allows me to stream sports and movie channels. May I know which Minix model I should get?

Thanks for your help.

I live in the US, and am looking to buy a TV box that allows me to stream sports and movie channels (free hopefully). Occasionally, I also would like to watch some HK channels during leisure. May I know which Minix model I should get? Is there an APP on Android Play Store I can download (or instructions) to allow me to watch the above channels?

We do not condone using illegal software to stream/watch copyright material, end of discussion.

He said free hopefully, no mention of illegal software. The likes of USTV Now are free and legal with more if one is willing to pay. He also asks about apps on Playstore, Google does not host illegal apps on the Playstore. Lets try help a little more here before burning the witch at the stake with little or no evidence. There are plenty of moderators on this forum ready to step in once the line has been crossed.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your interest in Minix. The U9 is the current flagship model which is more than powerful enough for your needs. Regarding apps, there are plenty available on the Playstore some with a bit of free content however more mainstream will be subscription based, do your homework, Google is your friend, one of my favourites is Redbull TV. Lastly, please familiarise yourself with the forum rules here to keep yourself out of trouble, again welcome to the forum.

Hi Lkkoh,
As far as a recommended Minix box, the U-9H is the latest and most capable.
As far as "free" streaming content in the US, that requires choices and first, beside some form of hi-speed internet, do you have cable TV, or ?
To use sports apps from the app store with "free" content, e.g. NBC Sports app, Fox Sports Go app, or ESPN app, once you download one of these apps you will need to sign up/log in the first time you start up. As part of the process, you will be asked what cable or satellite provider you have. Once you enter that and the other requested info, you are logged in and can see what free content is available. This however depends upon what channels you have access to through your cable or satellite provider. For instance, if your service does not include NBC Sports network, you will not be able to watch much of the content. Same with ESPN. Check them out on-line to get all the facts. They also offer additional paid content.
For "free" movies and shows you will have to download the apps and sign up for Crackle, Tubi, Vudu, PlutoTV, which offer free content, but with commercials and generally not recent releases. There are others.
Your only other options are to sign up for paid providers such as Fubo (sports) or Netflix (movies), etc.
Research online is your friend. Good luck.
