Hello,

Today i received my U22-XJ and settet up Coreelec. My AVR (Pioneer VSX 932) is Hooked up with my TV (LG UM7510pla) and my U22-XJ is hooked up too on the TV.
When i select HDMI Audio Multichannel i wont get any Sound. Do i need to plug the HDMI of the U22-XJ directly into the AVR? Then it works but i cant move the Menus with my TV Remote and i dont know if it transfers the Dolby Atmos and Other signals right because it doesnt show the name on the AVR it only says PCM.
Is there a way to get it working Properly?

Thanks a lot :)

1. Yes, you need to connect the U22 directly to your AVR by HDMI for the AVR to correctly handle all audio passthrough. (If you connect it directly to your TV then the TV then essentially becomes the passthrough device & that won't have the same capabilities as a fully featured AVR.). If you have a modern HDMI AVR, all of your HDMI devices should be connected via the AVR, not the TV.

2. Ensure you've enabled the expert settings in Kodi. Once done, under the system audio settings, enable audio passthrough & set the passthrough output device to ALSA: AML-AUGESOUND, HDMI. (This is separate to the audio output device at the top of the audio settings which should be set to ALSA: AML-AUGESOUND, HDMI Multi Ch PCM.)

3. Enable all audio passthrough options that your receiver supports.

4. Ensure the "sync playback to display" option (settings, video, player) is definitely disabled.

RE:. Your TV remote not working to control Kodi in CoreELEC. Not all are guaranteed to work via CEC, (mine works fine but I have a Panasonic, not a LG), but...

Presumably HDMI CEC is already enabled on both your TV, & the AVR? (Each will have their own individual settings.)

In the settings for CoreELEC, scroll down to hardware & enable the option for "inject BL301 Blob". Reboot CoreELEC & then try your TV remote again.

If it still doesn't work, go back to Kodi's settings, system, add-ons, input. Under input, select "peripherals" & select the CEC adapter, (this will open all available CEC options in CoreELEC for you to configure as you wish). CEC should already be enabled by default, but check that CEC is definitely enabled, then try your TV remote again, (reboot CoreELEC if necessary).

Hopefully one or all of these settings should resolve your problem but obviously let us know either way :).

Thank you :)
My TV Remote works flawlessly when the u22 is plugged in directly in the TV. But it wont work when the u22 is plugged into the AMP then only the original u22 Remote works.

Edit: Okay now i got the TV Remote working. Thank you :)

And now all is working fine Thank you so much :)

AVR settings wiki.png

If it's of any additional use to you as well this chart may be useful if you're setting up another Kodi device or you had to start afresh etc. (Obviously, leave the settings we previously discussed in this thread alone with everything now otherwise working normally with passthrough.) However, should you be viewing any media encoded in a format that passthrough doesn't support you may also want to adjust another couple of options in Kodi's settings, system, audio....

Channels - Set your number of channels to the total number of speakers you have connected. (I.e. I have a 5.1.2 setup so I use 7.1.)

Output config - Best match.

Stereo upmix - Disabled
. (Then use your preferred surround upmixing/sound field on the AVR itself instead to apply any upmixing you may require for media that's in stereo only.)

Maintain original volume on downmix
. (Listed as "normalise channels on downmix" on the chart above.) - Disabled.

Resample quality - I've always just set it to high by default myself but it doesn't really matter if Kodi isn't ever actively resampling anything itself anyway.

Keep audio device alive - I use 2 or 3 minutes, but set whatever you think is best for your AVR and/or attached subwoofer if either are quick to enter a standby mode automatically when you pause etc. Using CoreELEC there'd be no harm in simply setting this to "always" anyway.

Send low volume noise
- Set to always.

Lastly, they're not on the chart above as it's an older chart now, & it's not specifically for CoreELEC anyway....

Include LFE in stereo downmix
- 0%

Boost centre channel when downmixing - 0 dB

Hopefully that'll give you a full reference if you do ever need to reconfigure :).

question to the minix developer - what is the current status regarding the passthrough problem under android? will there be a solution? what is the problem, are there no drivers? could the minix developers please provide transparency in the state of affairs?

@catshome What exactly is the problem you have? I can't get passthourg to work at all, the receiver stil displays "stereo". I tried the steps mentioned above but I can't change the " passthrough output device", it is not selectable and it says "android, audiotrack" Maybe I try the optical output later. I do not hace this problem with Kodi running on Raspberry Pi and LibreElec.

The current issue is that passthrough does not work with HD audio with the android firmware and Minix havent addressed it in approx 16 months since release :(
Passthrough does work correctly for HD audio using CoreElec however if you want to try that

This would make Bad publicity for the next boxes in the future !!! And they Lost user ...how not buy future boxes...me to !
For the moment i am not satified with u22xj
When i buy the u22xj i say to me cool After 8h plus.....and u9h this device is liké u9h with Moore power ,the stability from u9h,but now small bugs not résolved After all this Time , background pictures Always zoom.... touchscreen not work, minix a3 mouse not so good expérience ,some Times audio not work with 3.5jack........

Mmmm… weird. Audio pass-through works fine for me. I’m using the standard android firmware with Kodi and I’m able to select all the pass-through option in Kodi. The box is connected to an Onkyo TX-NR656 AVR using HDMI. So I wonder if it is only Minix problem.
I used to have a problem with the ARC from my LG OLED65C7V to the AVR (mainly audio dropouts) and I found on the net that the problem was caused by the HDMI cable. I replaced the cable with AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet support which was not only dirt cheap but also solved the problem. I also use the same cable to connect the Minix box to the AVR. I’m not saying this is the solution but it’s worth trying.

I didnt say passthrough doesnt work.
Yes, you can select them all in Kodi but HD audio does not passthrough correctly in android firmware.

I don’t know which audio streams don’t pass through correctly, but DD+ and DTS are working okay for me anyway.

@push87. How come you have a tendency to show such frustration by use of uncalled for language towards a fellow forum member and no one on the hierarchy comments on it. And it's not the first time.

Have a bit of patience and understanding .. some of us users do not excel at your expertise or knowledge in all things minix.

If I did it, I am sure as one of the non elite members of the board, I would get a strong reminder as to the rules of the forum which you seem to delight in posting to other members when it suits you.

Forum rules:

  • There will be no excessive use of profanity.
  • There will be no posts meant to offend or hurt any other member, in a manner which is offensive or inflammatory.

@dak7385

its pusb87 not push87 ;)

post edited , thank you for reminding me of the rules :)

yes, i am a maybe bit short at times, unfortunately its my nature

BTW . I am not an elite member and have no privilages

My apologies for my typo in your avatar. Wasn't meant to offend.

My elite reference was not entirely meant in that context. I was referring to your trusted position.

But thank you for an honest reply. Its to your credit??

Your welcome, no offence taken :)
wrt to "trusted helper" I hope you note that I am also quite critical of how badly Minix have performed this last year with respect to the firmwares of the U22 and T5. Im amazed that some of my posts have not been removed !!

??? lol. Yep, I had noticed your comments on minix. And I admire and respect all of those who are unafraid of "PC" attitudes and speak up for us all.??
