U22-XJ Max Rev. A

I've just received my brand new Minix U22-XJ Max, and I want to install the latest version of Coreelec in it, but there are two DTB Images for the U22-XJ MAX, one for plain U22-XJ MAX and another one for U22-XJ Max rev.A. Furthermore, among the changes in the latest Coreelec version is disclosed that it is now compatible with the New U22-XJ Max Rev.A. How can I find out which review is my unit? Has anybody any notice about this new "rev. A" of the Max? What's the difference between the two? Are any other reviews apart from plain and Rev. A? Too many questions unanswered...

I believe the U22-XJ Max initially had slightly different hardware before it's release.
I don't know if any original design entered the market.

I can only guess Rev.A is the new revised hardware which has gone to market.

@MINIX - Martin @MINIX - Eric can you confirm please?!

Look at the bottom of the box to see if you have any information (about the version).
There is no information about the version. I also tried to google the model number at the bottom of the box, but I couldn't find any information at all.

Yesterday, I gave it a chance and I installed the regular (not Rev.A) DTB image with the latest stable version of Coreelec. It worked flawlessly. When looking at the hardware information within Coreeelec, it says it is runnon on a S922XJ Rev.B (I don't know if the processor review is directly related to the hardware review). Anyway, information about that Rev.A hardware would be really appreciated.

After some research, I now believe the Rev.A is the Amlogic S922X and Rev.B is the S922XJ.

Which means there shouldn't actually be any Rev.A MINIX NEO U22-XJs !?

Then I found this...
"Rev B. AMLogic S922X chipsets were stupidly advertised by Chinese sourced vendors for a while with CPU's clocked at 2.2GHz vs 1.8GHz for the Rev. A's.
I think there were minor changes in Rev B. like 8K VP9p2 hardware decoding added. However the Rev B's had stability issues at those higher clock rate."

I just worked it out. It's really simple! :)

Rev.A is the U22-XJ

Rev.B is the U22-XJ Max

So @lilomaster you have Rev.B (y)

Rev.A is not the U22-XJ.It's still U22-XJ Max.

I have contacted Minix directly and this is what I got:
NEO U22-XJ Max and NEO U22-XJ use the same CPU. Both are S922X-J.
The following are the main differences between the Max version and the U22-XJ.
Change 5V to 12V, the external power supply is more stable.
USB 3.0 chip
The audio interface has changed the chip
Added overvoltage protection
WiFi changed to Wi-Fi6
Replaced flying squirrel
Added Storage.

Rev.A is not the U22-XJ.It's still U22-XJ Max.
Not sure what that means?
That sounds like you're saying the U22-XJ Max is Rev.A !

I said this....
Edit: Disclaimer - the following, earlier post by me, had been removed from public view! (Not sure why?).

As @MINIX - Eric hasn't bothered to get back to us since March, we have had no confirmation!

in my understanding that means that U22-XJ Max is Rev.A has lower CPU speed, same as U22-XJ (not Max) has but that doesn't mean that Rev.A is U22-XJ and only Rev.B is U22-XJ Max. In fact Rev.A has all the upgraded hardware including WiFi6 USB 3.0 and others, it's just CPU speed is lower. And they both have S922X-J

So we're none the wiser?! ;)

I have seen this too, relating to a competitors box...
"You can check in terminal application in Android or CE if you have rev. a or rev. b. Difference is Cores speeds. cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Serial If it starts with 290b then rev.b, if 290a then rev a. In any case you can start CE with rev.a for both revisions, check via ssh a serial and change dtb to another if required."

Which is what I documented earlier...
Install Termux
https://termux.en.uptodown.com/android

Run Termux and type...
cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Serial

If you see 290b then you have Rev.B

So can anybody confirm that u22xj max turn at 2,2 GHz ?
