U22-XJ No SOUND.

HI. I have just received my new U22-XJ. I am replacing my trusted U9 unit this new Minix. The U22 is now hooked to a DENON-AVR-S750 which also host an Apple TV 4k, a FireTv 4K and a 4K Sony BluRay. My U9 was part of that setup and worked as a charm. It is controlled through a Harmony remote hub and also have Minix air mouse and Logitech bluetooth Keyboard.

To install the new U22, I moved all my connections from the old U9 into the U22. Turned on and and I am not getting any sound from the MINIX through the DENON Receiver. Everything else (4k video, remote control, bluetooth keyboard, air mouse, PLEX from NAS, etc) works fine. Everything BUT NO OUTPUT SOUND at all. No keys sound, no output sound at all.

As part of my troubleshoot, I upgraded the X22 to the latest version via OTA. No change. No sound at all.

I changed all of the cables including the HDMI, the optical cable and also the ethernet cable. No sound at all.

I have tried changing every setting on the SOUND settings on the minix. NO Sound still.

I have tried changing all settings on the DENON side (sound from HDMI, Sound from digital, AUTO). No sound either.

Tech data: Android V9 / Security Patch Aug 5,2018 / BUILD No. 20200503-V003A / Kernel 4.9.113 (May 3 220)

I am clueless already. Maybe hardware failure??

Any help or recommendation will be appreciated.
 
Just checked my settings and had digital audio on Auto. And my soundbar works fine. I do not have a video recorder
What is the difference if I change the settings as you have shown above please?

This may have nothing to do with your issue. But when I connected my u22 up for the first time and my soundbar; the soundbar showed normal volume. I pressed the volume button on the A3 and found the volume way down at 30%.

Pressing the volume button on A3 until volume was at 100% and it worked.

Thks. Just tried all volume buttons on any connected controls. it keeps muted unfortunately..
 
Guys. Thanks a lot.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
1. I did a factory reset.
2. Then Update MCU to V3. Firmware was already updated to last version.
3. Reinstalled everything.
4. Using ONLY HDMI cable.
5. AUDIO set to LINE and Digital Audio Format set to MANUAL as pusb87 pointed out.
6. Checked volume on the Air mouse and other remote controls as dak7385 recommended before

and... WE NOW HAVE SOUND!!

Bump! Does anyone know the difference. Or, just leave settings as automatic?
 
New Info. Today, my U22 did not produce any sound. AGAIN.
Started the troubleshooting again and this time, found the culprit... As soon as the dongle for the Minix A2 air mouse is plugged in, sound goes muted. Tried with dongle on the the three USB ports, tried with other air mouse. Conclusion: The Air mouse is causing the problem.

So I will stop using it until I found the cause.

Hope this is useful for the people in the forum.

The original NEO A2 remote is not compatible with NEO U22-XJ.
There is no option available to prevent the sound being diverted to the NEO A2 remote.
Unfortunately, you'll need to purchase one of our newer remotes - NEO A2 Lite and NEO A3. Please send me a PM.

John , what about the option in developer settings to disable usb audio routing ...would that work ?

Reinstalling everything is generally not thought the best way to troubleshoot, best to install one app at a time and test to see if it is an app that is causing issues ;)

Thks. I have ordered a new A3.
 
Pity this incompatibility issue is not better publicised. I returned my NEO U22-XJ to Amazon early last week as I gave up after several days of trying to fault find this same sound issue.

U22 is quite new, future firmware updates will correct this ;)

Apologies, it's been more than 4 years since we stopped producing MINIX NEO A2, so slipped our mind to mention its incompatibility.

Hi ,
I couldn't find developer option to test it for using A2 remote, where is it?
