U9-H locked up last night

I am running 7.1.2 - and have been for sometime now without issue. I also loaded an antivirus software - Ancleaner.
Last night the U9 lock up. I was able to reboot (remove and reinstall the AC plug).
A number of things come to mind...
What would you recommend for an antivirus software - if any?
Sometime ago i heard recommendation to perform a factory reset occassionally to clean up the system - anyone doing this as part of regular maintenance, i haven't.

There was some unsettled weather nearby, it is possible the cause of my issue.

The ran well soon after I rebooted.
My U9 is a great media box.

My U9 is a great media box.

Random system hangs/crashes happen. I wouldn't start reading anything into it at all unless it becomes a repeating problem.

Same applies to factory resetting, it's more of a last resort than something to be considered as a matter of routine if nothing is actually wrong.

You're also using the 7.1.2 CE ROM. The guys did an excellent job given the fact that it was mainly developed by enthusiasts in their spare time, but it's not an official firmware release of itself. As such, might not be quite as stable as the official firmware releases.

If it's running fine again now, just carry on & enjoy ;)!!

My U9H is now over 4 years old. I hope to get at least another year of service.
I won't complain if I get 5 years of service.
If the; locking up, links fail to load, persist, I'll suspect the 7.1.2 un official firmware and look to another media hub.

I flashed to 7.1.2 and it has been great. however , recently I my u9h is freezing, not loading links (in Kodi 19.1). Can i go back to the official firmware? can i use the OTA?

Kodi Real Debrid
then you either have an issue with your kodi installation/configuration or possibly a misconfigured real debrid account
check your account details
the u9h is pefectly capable in the set up you describe although i would stick with stock v6 minix firmware rather than the 7.1.2

links from where ?
Kodi Real Debrid

This is the second time we've been over this same ground in this thread, RE: Real Debrid lol ;). (I assumed the original response of links not correctly activating while using a debrid service was moderated/removed for the general implications inherent therein.)

Just flash back to the official FW006 FW008 for goodness sake ;). (You obviously flashed to the CE ROM to begin with so it's no serious issue to simply repeat the process again with an original firmware image.)

Debrid and Kodi all appear fine - set up right.
However, i have heard that when updating kodi to uninstall the old version before updating to the new version.
I don't recall doing this when i upgraded to Kodi Matrix 19 (19.1).

For what it is worth, My issues seem to be in the evening, not when i do my troubleshooting in the afternoon.

Thanks for the advise.
Cheers

If the issue persists, i will consider flashing back.
The instructions to flash to 7.1.2 were very good and obviously worked.
Can you provide a link to said instruction please.

So this was recognized as an issue.
Was flashing back to FW006 confirmed to remedy the issue?

from 18 to 19 yes
and anything you install to 19 has to be 19 compatible

Real Debrid or any debrid service may help to some degree but it's still not a guarantee. Ultimately you're still subject to any other factor that causes bottlenecks when it comes to online sources.

https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/buffering-hdmi-2-0.3603/

Assuming you're still also limited by the same 30mbps bandwidth package previously discussed in the thread above regarding your past buffering issues that you assumed was a limitation of HDMI, that still doesn't exactly give you a huge amount of bandwidth to play with at all, (regardless of your using a debrid service now too).

Like many you're quite possibly limited with regards to the maximum bandwidth available to you subject to the infrastructure & what's actually available in your area. However, if you can upgrade your bandwidth then do so as all of your other present headaches may possibly see some additional improvement ;)!! (Just remember, the same external limitations would still apply.)

The fact that your problems also seem notably worse in the evenings compared to the afternoons would also indicate that issues such as contention ratios & service congestion are also a direct factor = additional bottlenecks. Good luck solving those issues rapidly without at least first throwing some extra money at the problem too ;)!! (I.e. improved subscriptions.)

If you cannot upgrade your ISP package for a start, then you may simply have to readjust your expectations. Consider viewing your on demand content at a lesser quality instead. It just won't matter how frequently you factory reset or wipe your current hardware if you still have these other pre-existing bottlenecks elsewhere in the chain, & purchasing new hardware such as a U22 to replace your U9-H won't make a difference either if the root issue remains available bandwidth or source limitations.
