U9-H Power supply

Hi,
Yesterday my minix neo u9-h stopped working. Checked everything and seems that i have a faulty adapter (measured 0V). I purchased my u9-h 04-01-2018 so it's still under warranty. I asked for a solution at the store where i bought my minix and they told me to send it back completely. I prefer receiving only a new power supply because i'm sure my player works fine ( tested with another 5V DC PSU) and it would save me a lot of time/ work (settings, apps, etc..). Is there a way to receive a new power supply please ? Thanks in advance, Bart.

MINIX has had issue's with some PSU for the U9-H in the past... I suggest sending @MINIX - John a PM and I'm sure he'll help you with getting a replacement!

In fact you're right. An international manufacturer isn't obligated to give 2 years of warranty but an European reseller does. Since there has been issue's with some of the u9-h's power supply, i still hope this will be a case of (minix) warranty. John already told me that he'll arrange a new power supply to be shipped to me (no confirmation yet). I also asked the reseller but they want me to completely return my player, which i try to avoid for several reasons ( unit is still ok, settings, etc..) I'll see.

John already said in another thread that there isn't a widespread problem with power supply, only very rare isolated cases. You should really activate the warranty of your reseller.

The replacement has already been shipped to you, I contacted you directly with the tracking number.

What are the symptoms of defective PSU besides the obvious when there's no power?
I'm having intermittent display problems since two weeks (as if the GPU is failing: On/Off, Color mixed up, heavy static/snow on half the screen, sometimes all of it) but the sound is skipping to when it occures. It generally starts after an hour of use. I'm also wondering it the unit is starting to overheat (according to logs, it runs in a 45c-52c range). I'll try to film it when it occurs.

CPU temperature range is absolutely fine. They'll happily go much higher :).

Which media players are you using (Kodi, MX Player, etc.)? Have you tried troubleshooting the software side of things before considering the possibility of a hardware issue?

Clear all caches for a start, then try again. Obviously, if you clear the data with Kodi it will wipe out all of your settings, user data, add-ons, the lot!!

Have you tried completely uninstalling the media players you're having the problems with & starting fresh? Failing that, have you tried factory resetting your U9-H in case something has become corrupted?

Keep us apprised :).

Nothing wrong with your temperatures in my book, sounds more like a buggy HDMI cabel or video related problem. Under Android I would get weird stuf like that at times but since I run CoreElec I have no more video bugs. I think your PSU is fine, my exp. is they either work or they OD.

So it's not the heat.
It's not the cable, I replaced it, no change. Unless it's the U9H HDMI connector itself. But good suggestion as it was my first guess.

It's not a specific app. Lately I'm mostly on Netflix. But even if I kill Netflix, the problem will continue at the home screen.
It can occurs even while rebooting with the Minix logo still there.

What worries me is that this box is barely one year old and by the look of it I wouldn't be surprised it's about to die.

Once again, what would be the symptoms of a flaky PSU?

Thanks guys.
