Unable to connect to samba server

Hi, i have a u1 i want to get to connect to a existing samba server to transfer and stream files. I can connect using a android tablet and also with my Mac but my u1 won't connect. If I use es file manager and scan networks they are found, but if I try to connect or edit the connection and put my pass word in I get a message saying cannot find server.
Am I missing something obvious.

Are you trying to connect to a Nas?
Do you want to stream movies from it?

Like I said as file explorer it them but when I try to connect it says can't find server. Tried other file managers and it's the same.

I'm not sure to understand : you want to stream movie using U1, and movies came from another kodi box?
Which box is it?
And where are stored movies? (hard drive, USB pen drive, network,...)?

I have a vero+ downstairs with movies etc stored on a memory stick and I want to stream them (or copy) them to my u1 upstairs. I know I could swap the memory stick over but would prefer to stream them.
Sometimes my family want to watch their stuff so I watch my stuff upstairs.
 
Ok.
You can try with ftp. Install a ftp server in Vero side and a client in U1.
Anyway the best solution should be to get a Nas which will share movies to all devices without copy them.

Thanks for your help skynet but what I don't understand is why it works to my macbook and tablet but not to u1.
Anyway will try ftp.
Do you recommend any particular client for U1?

Well tried ftp client and same problem. Using es file explorer when i do a scan the vero shows up. Try to connect and get unable to find server error message.
Tried same thing with same settings on my android tablet and it connects straight away.

You must install a FTP server in Vero side.
 
As it is the same problem on samba and ftp are there any settings I may have missed that would stop it connecting to outside servers?

Check your U1 ip address. It must be on the same local network as other devices, with the good subnet mask.
