Unable to connect to samba server

All devices are on the same network, and I can ping the minix from my macbook.
I can't see the minix samba server on my macbook, but can see and connect to the Vero server.

Seems that mac uses SMBv2 by default, tried changing that and nothing so changed it back.
Still doesn't explain why I can't connect using FTP though.
Is there anything else to setting samba up on the U1 other than enabling it in the settings>network>on

No, and it's working fine at home with my Windows 10 PC, ethernet, switch.
FTP is working fine too (ES explorer or FTP client / server).
I just fixed the U1 ip address in my router with its mac address.

This has happened to me this week too, similar setup, mine is connected via ethernet to a repeater which has a usb drive attached which i samba to all the network to as a media server. Been working great for a year then suddenly cannot connect to server, tested everything and only on this Minix box is it a problem, don't understand it as it's not as if theres been an update on the box.

EDIT.. Just did some more discovering and found out it was actually PIA VPN that was blocking it, PIA had updated and defaulted to 'blocking local network' So not Minix

good point...i think many VPN apps default to blocking local network so always worth a look there (y):)
