Update KODI?

Hi,
Haven't used my Neo-U1 in a while. Can't figure out how to update the current KODI v18.4 installation. Is there a setting to allow it to update?

Two simple options.

1. If you're already logged into Google on the device then simply open the Play Store app, search for Kodi in your installed apps & update your existing installation.

2. Download the Kodi 19.1 Matrix APK directly from the Kodi website & install it.
 
I was trying to search the play store. I'm having a problem with the U1's remote. The U1 is hooked up to a 40" TCL TV in my workshop and when I press up on the directional pad on the U1 remote, the TV and U1 receive that signal and it kicks me out of the U1 GUI and to the Home Screen for the TV (ROKU). A real PITA. Can't press up when using the U1. I do have a Inteset 422-3 that I can use, if I can find it, unless there is something I can do to get the factory remote working correctly.

Can I download KODI APK on my PC and then use USB thumb drive attached to U1 to install it? Might be the easiest way right now with the remote situation.

Won't that mean you can't navigate in Kodi too?!

You probably can't navigate to install the Kodi APK either!

Do you not have an airmouse?
Or you could use a USB mouse!
 
Yeah, navigating KODI is tough also, but I can keep pressing down and it will go back to the top after last item in list. In the Minix home screen and menus that doesn't work.

I don't have an airmouse, but luckily I have a Logitech wireless keyboard with track pad.

Update,
I was able to use wireless keyboard and update KODI in play store. The track pad was necessary to be able to select Apps in play store.

I'm really thinking about going back to KODI v17.6. Everything just worked with v17.6 and adding video sources using SMB works without having to manually enter server, shared folder, username and password for PC sharing said folder. I have 14 HDDs sharing over 100TB of videos and music.
 
Oh yeah,
What app would I use to view a USB drive attached to U1 so I could install KODI from it? I'm not familiar with Android at all. I'm more at home with an old XT running DOS or a 486 running DOS and Windows For Workgroups 3.11.

The U1 will probably have ES File Explorer preinstalled.

Or you can use one of many other file explorer/managers.

A couple of suggestions..:
Cx File Explorer
FX File Explorer

I know I have seen ES File Explorer.

If I decide to revert back to KODI v17.6, I'll give that a try. Hopefully the APK I found is the correct one.
 
Hi All, I was not using Minix U1 for sometime, now when I updated the apps in it including Kodi I have an issue. Kodi previously played Dolby Atmos and all such files effortlessly. Now yesterday it is only giving Dolby digital and is showing source is slow error. I have a Synology NAS and my cloud storage connected through Dlink router. There was no issue before for audio and video. I will try to revert back to Kodi 17.6 as mentioned in the discussion Any one have feedback on this issue. Thanks.

Resolved this issue, updated to a previous version of Kodi and Atmos TrueHD is back.
 
Had some fun with this myself too (hours!), it seems anything higher than v17.6 KODI and I get issues with playing file types and sound sync. I also tried the FW update to Android v6 but with either KODI 17.6 or higher I couldn't get stereo sound passed to my receiver - yet any 5.1 or DTS was just fine. The reason for trying Android v6 was that neither BritBox or Binge streaming services will work in Android v5, yet Amazon Prime is happy. For me these Minix boxes have become problematic and unsupported, as such I am going the Nvidia Shield Pro 4K route and punting the Minix out on Gummie

for fun i loaded up my old U1 with Kodi 19.1
Regretably what you have discovered is true and it seems that the U1 ( at least on official android 5 firmware) and Kodi 19 do not play nice together at all with HDMI passthrough, in fact as far as i can see its FUBAR :(
 
Yep, they are just too old unfortunately and that audio pass through issue is also in Android 6. I picked up the Nvidia TV Shield 4K Pro today and WOW! It is quicker (as expected) but the AI video upscaling is very very good. Streaming from Prime it also never drops quality, expensive but worth it. Binge also working BTW

Next stop Nvidia Forum to complain about the lack of VP9 support, yip no Youtube HDR on the Shield unfortunately and its not just Youtube that use the VP9 standard, there are quite a few others, it is supported on the Minix U22 though (y)

Make me lough ,5 month now no update on minix u22xj !!!,lot of bugs not résolved, and this after more then one year the u22xj is out now !! No news
I dont think that NVIDIA gives no news on thé forum if the device have bugs...and i dont think that they promised things and then this not work

You haven't visited the Nvidia forum then, it's better you take a look before you make assumptions. I know the Shield has it's issues too because I own one. The way they get around the complaints is to just keep updating the Android system instead of addressing the issues, some of the upgrades have been catastrophic.

This by no means is meant to divert from your comments about the U22, I agree Minix need to be more transparent about what is going on and we all need to know what is happening regarding the bug fixes and missing features on the U22, it's unprofessional and driving us all mad.
