Updated to Windows 2004; Wifi adapter invisible, let alone driverless

Hello,

I've done a fresh install of Windows 10 2004 on my NEO Z83-4 after the 32Gb SSD got completely clogged up with Windows update mess.
It seems to have worked ~90%, but the Wifi has completely disappeared from Device Manager and nothing can persuade it to do anything.

Is there a simple way to update it with a script?

I have trawled this forum and typically you get a technical expert low-level suggestion, but is usually missing some key bit of explicit information which makes it usable to a competent amateur user.

Is there something simple, clear and reproducible?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks. Yes, copied that as suggested. I ran a script called installer_test as Administrator, but that did not work. Is there a *simple* "install_all" script to run which does the bulk install? That's not clear. Cheers,

I understand the low-level update driver from a USB drive folder in Device Manager stuff for a device which is detected, but if Windows 10 has eradicated these devices (because they are not Plug & Pray, or non-standard), then what is one meant to do? Seems to reflect the Windows 10 incompatibility flaws that made me have to replace my original Z83-4. A pity as it is potentially a nice machine, but oh so fragile technically with so many low-level bodgy issues.

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate that you are trying to help. So would "official Minix firmware" install all of the drivers? Sounds unlikely. The WiFi chip is Broadcom IIRC, not Intel. I suspect that the forum concensus will settle on one sentence answers such as "do XYZ" (which require MINIX expert-level hardware knowledge) which will fall over on the details and be unusable. What is wrong with a simple script that installs the drivers on a virgin device? It is a recurring forum question (e.g. the broken microSD card port, which is broken on my replacement PC)...

If you are already are with windows 10 version 2004 the easiest thing is:
1-Check what is not working well for you
2-if you have problems with wifi then you need to install another driver: (link is bellow, download first)
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/neo-z83-4-all-drivers.76/

That link above are all official minix drivers
3-install only the driver you need (wifi for example, manual installation required)

Note:
If for example you update again to another version of windows is just get the driver already downloaded and install it (save the downloaded drivers to a pendrive for example)

Yes tried that all that thanks, but wifi, bluetooth, audio etc. all broken still. Why can't Windows 10 "see" the devices in order to be in a position to elicit a driver install? Why make a computer which is not compatible with ongoing Windows 10 updates? If MINIX know their machines are diverging and will not be fit-for-purpose, then they should support accessible repair patches, like a clean full driver install, to complete their part of the purchase contract.

If you go ahead with an install of a 100% generic OEM copy of Windows on ANY device or custom rig; ultimately you then need to be prepared in advance to know exactly which drivers you're going to need to manually find & install yourself unfortunately. (Some devices are detected & basic drivers installed so that they'll at least function until you manually install a specific driver or software package. Some, however, aren't detected or if they are, the generic drivers just aren't enough & an advanced driver/software package is required..)

You really need to do your homework first if choosing to install a completely plain copy of OEM Windows.

@Marty has already given you your best option. Unfortunately yes, you'll essentially be doing the same job twice over & it'll still need updating anyway, but it will at least already have the exact device drivers you need all conveniently pre-installed for you.

Let us know if you're still stuck after installing the official MINIX Win 10 image ;)!!

Thanks, again, I appreciate your time. Windows 10 updates on the little 32GB NeoZ83-4 had become unmanageable and unstable, constantly ramming more zero-value bloat into the memory, and so a clean install was my only option. Of course, if you are an expert on PCs, it is very easy to say you should have telepathically, clairvoyantly done XYZ etc. Bow, scrape, push nose in compost. Duly noted. But any PC manufacturer should be able to add their specfic drivers to a generic operating system IMHO. Perhaps Windows 10 is just a rubbish OS and it's my fault for not forking out on Apple.

I have been jaded by the whole broken SD-card slot saga with MINIX which I have/had tolerated for a quiet life, as well as the tedious Windows update SSD partition bug which caused me to replace the first PC ~18 months ago. So sitting on this forum is somewhat a familiar experience...

Yes, followed
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...tallation-instructions.15/#lg=post-33&slide=1
and I am back in business after a load of Windows updates, and trademark non-working SD-slot.
So basically, "firmware" = 100% machine specific binary image of Windows; the right pattern of 1s and 0s out of 2^(8*32e9) combinations!
I've managed to put Linux Lite on some old XP laptops and it found all the hardware drivers flawlessly... this lulled me into a false sense of security with Windows10/MINIX.
Anyway problem solved... :)

Hi everyone too hi.fi problem If I uninstall the card and restart it in the device manager I find it promptly, with the yellow triangle!

Salve a tutti anche io problema hi.fi.Se disinstallo scheda e riavvio in gestione dispositivi la ritrovo puntualmente, con il triangolo giallo!Come mai

SOLVED: I solved it by installing the CherryTrail driver. Thanks
