Updating to newer firmware

Hi guys I'm new to this forums, I've an old neo x8h plus version 4.4.2, it runs fine but I can not run cyberGhost or PIA vpn I get error message to upgrad my android device.
Is there anything I can do update or advice me which android box to purchase.

Official ROM Nougat is for U9-H.
Custom ROM Marshmallow is for U1.

That’s not bad if U9-H has gotten a official update to nougat. Wonder if it’ll get a custom one to Oreo sometime.. I’m looking for a new box but not sure if I should go with U9-H now or wait for the x39 to be released.. only downside to the x39 is it now uses RK3399 chip instead of a Amlogic and a few features it will not be supporting.
