I am trying to replace the 256 GB M.2 Gen 3 SSD with a 512 GB M.2 Gen 3 SSD in my new Minix Z100. The new SSD is not detected in the BIOS which displays both M.2 SATA and M.2 NVME as empty. How can I get the motherboard to recognize this new SSD?

Have you initialised and formated the new SSD ?

Thank you for your response. The newly installed SSD is not recognized in Ubuntu running from a USB device. It can't be mounted or formatted as it is not recognized by the BIOS which displays M.2 Empty. Are you aware of some other way for the new SSD to be initialised and formatted in Windows or Ubuntu?

I suggest you put the 256 GB SSD back in and use Windows to initialise and format the 512 GB SSD and maybe clone Windows to the SSD.
Or do you require Ubuntu?

I assume you have a NVMe USB enclosure!

I purchased a SSD enclosure for my 512 GB SSD and successfully cloned my 256 GB disk. The larger SSD now boots into Ubuntu 24.04 when it is loaded into the USB type c enclosure; however it will not boot when installed into the M.2 slot previously holding the original 256 GB drive. The BIOS still shows M.2 Empty. When the 512 GB SSD is installed in the enclosure, I see it listed under boot priorty options as a USB device as I would expect. How can I get the BIOS to recognize a 512 GB SSD installed in the M.2 slot? The MINIX Z100 packaging describes that it supports up to 4 TB.

Once more thank you for the help you have provided.
