Upgrade to Android TV 8 notification ?

I hide the status notification and hardly ever look at it but I took a look at it the other day and imagine my surprise when I saw an upgrade notification telling me that that an upgrade to Android TV 8 failed because of insufficient space. I'm pretty sure if that upgrade was ever attempted it would brick my device lol (don't know why I'm getting it, doesn't seem like Minix released that firmware for my Minix device). How can I disable this? I froze both update apps and I'm still getting it. Also, what is the file that you can put on storage to stop the ROM from upgrading? I know there is one but I forgot the name.

This has to be coming from one of the apps you have installed, you are correct Minix never released anything higher than Android 5. I would try it out of curiosity if it was my device as I know these units are close on unbrickable, the amount of times I thought thats the end only to resurrect the unit to its former glory. That said I'm not suggesting you do it ok.
If you don't have too much to lose then do a factory reset, that should clear it.

It's system. I modified so many things on this thing that I don't even know what could be the cause but it's a system upgrade wizard that is being fired up after I click the notification. I think it has to do with a modification I did to build.props in order to get HD youtube playback. I'm attaching screenshots for you guys to see.

I have zero incentive to further tweak this unit so attempting to install this is 100% out of the question :D. The minix works fairly well although it's showing its age. If it wasn't for issues with youtube (for some reason the later versions of the app just don't work very well even though it should have the power to move it).

What was the dummy file we put somewhere in storage that stopped the system from attempting to install updates? I may have inadvertently gotten rid of it at some point :S

Ooo, now it gets interesting, any chance you could PM me a copy of the build.prop? I am not aware of a file that blocked OTA for this unit, was it on the old forum? However, as you can modify the build.prop you can then delete the URL for OTA in there, this will stop the lookup. That said I would still love to know what changes you made to get the OTA to think that ATV is for your unit.

Sent you the build.prop. The file I mean is a dummy file, but the filename stopped the OTA service from firing up.
