USB burning tool: fails during "download UBOOT"

Hello all,
I've had issues in the past flashing my first U22-XJ.
Now the second one won't boot, so tried to flash with USB burning tool. Unlike last time with the first U22-XJ, this one fails quite early in the process, whether I do:
  • "Normal erase" or "Erase all"
  • Tried to flash FW006 and FW004
Each time, it fails around 3% during "Download UBOOT" with the error below:

Any help please?
Also, when I plug it onto the TV, the LED only turns green (not blue) and I don't get anything on the screen. I also tried to get into recovery mode, with nothing on the screen, I don't suppose it's a good start.
I know the instructions say:
Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘MCU Settings’, and switch the “Enable auto start system when plug in” to OFF state.
But of course, I can't get to the settings.

Otherwise, the serial numbers are:
JU22XJBX20400052
A01E0B106E57

How do I figure out if it's still under warranty?
Thanks!

So are you saying that the MCU was still actually enabled before you attempted the first manual flash? (Possibly bricking the device in the process!!)

Otherwise, I've had AWFUL issues trying to flash U22s that have simply defied all normal, routine or even rational reasoning.

Try different cables, try different USB ports on your PC, try different versions of the USB burning tool, or try another PC entirely if possible.

I've even had to try flashing back to even earlier versions of the firmware & then OTA it back up again afterwards, or once an earlier version has successfully flashed, it may then also allow a later FW version to manually flash over that again that otherwise just wouldn't work before.

Don't ask why!! The U22 has been an absolute headache at times with no updates since release to tie down better procedures for flashing or the reasons why it's such a pig to deal with & the consumer is invariably left to figure it out for themselves through a lot of trial & error.

I don't know if the MCU is/was enabled or not. When I tried to boot, it came to an Android logo and stayed there for like 30 minutes, and I believe LED was blue. So tried:
- Flash FW006 with tool v2.2.0, "Normal erase". Failed at 14% if I recall correctly.
- Thought I should try "full erase", and I think (but can't recall for sure) flashing started failing even earlier.
Since then I tried FW004 and FW003 on 2 USB ports (a USB2 and USB3), always using the Minix USB cable, and keep failing at "Download UBOOT".
If I try to boot now, I get green LED and no signal on HDMI.

*EDIT* Just tried a different cable, on a different USB port (one from the back of the motherboard), tool v2.1.8, and got exactly the same error at the same point with both FW003 and FW004.

*EDIT2* I'm on Win8.1. Tried wife's laptop which is on Win11, and get the same error again from either USB ports using tool v2.2.0 and FW004.

*EDIT3* tried putting TWRP recovery.img on a FAT32 2GB SD card, press reset while pushing power button, and I still get no signal. LED lights green when I turn on the box by the way, not blue. It only turns blue when I try to flash and it burning tool gets to "Download UBOOT" step at 3% where it then fails.

So you're finally back up & running?

Not at all, the firmware update failing at 3% in the "Download UBOOT" step was already happening in MASKROM mode! Which, if I understand correctly, is some sort of last resort mode. How my box now only boots straight in MASKROM mode is a mystery to me. I couldn't even get in recovery, not even in TWRP via SD card, so it seems something went seriously wrong while updating at some point. I certainly never had such a drastic failure with my X8H-Plus, my U1 or even my other U22-XJ (although the latter has been finicky as well, but not quite that much).
I contacted Minix and someone came back to me already. I may have to return it.

Hi Guys.
I have a similar issue. Since FW008 and several months of normal use, since 1 week a have some strange behaviour: the box booted normally, but the main screen appears only for 1 sec, than it goes black, and if i move my A3 remote the cursor moves normally. Ok. Lets do a downgrade to FW006 because i didnt have there such a bug. I prepare everything correctly but i forgot to change the MCU mode (because of black screen i didnt gain acces to Settings Menu). So i start to update but the folowing error message appears after several minutes /4 attempts(attached).

Question: i just brick the system, or there is any hope to bring it back to live? I use the little one every day, because it runs Kodi showing some content from my NAS drive.

PS.
if i understand correctly the device is in Maskrom mode (with green LED instead of blue)
