USB C display not working

What should be the type-C power of the monitor to connect the MINIX NEO N42C via a type-C cable without using the MINIX NEO power supply?

I would say 36W as the PSU for the N42C is 12V, 3A.

Although, the device only requires approx. 1A (12W) to operate. More power will ensure support for other external devices if attached.
 
And what other protocols should type-C support?
to have a video transfer?

The USB-C port only supports video output, not audio output.
The USB-C port does not support 'hot plugging', a USB-C cable or adapter should only be connected/disconnected when the NEO N42C-4 is powered off.
