usb immediately ejects on U22-XJ

I have a 64GB USB stick that I use as a library of movies and TV shows to watch. I have a second 128GB USB that I use as a traveler with movies to swap between computers and the minix box.

When I plug in the 128GB USB both devices disappear in the files app.

If I go into minix device preferences, storage the devices show as "safely ejected".
No matter what I do, restart, reformat USB devices, both will not work at the same time

There are many issues regarding the responses from the USB ports. I have issues with my mouse not working once I plug anything in to the ports, but I discovered that using a different Logitech mouse improved the situation very sluggish response as shown in the curser movement, so I employed a powered hub and ran everything from that, that was a marked improvement. The items I plug in are Kingston Datartraveler G4 and 1TB portable Seagate drive. But the responses are flaky and never ideal.

I have had similar issues. I had 2 USB devices plugged in - transceiver for Logitech K400+ keyboard/mouse and a portable HGST Touro hard drive. The kb/mouse was exhibiting erratic behavior, as if the batteries were low. However, batteries were not the problem. I then removed the transceiver and re-installed it on the end of a 6' USB extension cable (M-F), about 1 foot away from the U22 and hard drive - problem resolved. It appears there is some interference (electrical, RF?) between adjacent USB devices. I seem to recall that U1 (now retired) had a similar issue.

So, try distance isolation between USB devices and the U22 USB ports - non-adjacent ports, USB hub, extension cable).

Very interesting. I did try that and it did not make a difference.
Considering the exorbitant cost of this box this behavior is unacceptable

I purchased a new Samsung Fit Plus 128GB USB and the problem still persists. As soon as the second USB is inserted it immediately ejects. If I check in device preferences/storage it shows "is safely ejected"

I have two Samsung Fit+ USB sticks, one 128GB and the other 64GB

I have also verified this behavior on both of my U22XJ devices and the behavior is identical, Both boxes have the latest firmware as per the OTA app

What is going on?

So I am waiting for Minix to fix a bug in their firmware? In other words, it will never get fixed!

I have done some further testing and the issue still occurs, on all three of my U22XJ boxes, and even with them factory reset.

I did a factory reset on all three boxes, did not install any apps or updates of any kind.

The issue still occurs. When multiple USB sticks are installed only the first installed stick works, When the second stick is installed it immediately shows "safely ejected" in the device preferences/storage menu.

Both USB Sticks are Samsung Fit+ with one 64GB and the other 128GB

Given both sticks are essentially identical except for the actual storage amount, have you tried formatting them differently & see if that stops the instant ejection?

If successful, you could also try formatting back again after.

Can't say for certain if it will change anything but it's definitely worth trying.

I tried connecting the USB Sticks to the Minix box using the USB 3.0 Hub from my computer and the result is the same on all three devices.

I tried the same test using a Powered USB hub and the result also was the same.

I took some of my old USB sticks and discovered that any USB stick over 32GB causes this problem. I tested 4G, 8G and 32GB USB sticks of various manufacturers and they work properly when connected to the box, without a hub, along with the Samsung Fit+ 64GB USB stick.

As soon as a USB Stick or hard disk over 32GB is connected the issue occurs. In device preferences/ storage the second USB device immediately shows "safely ejected" upon insertion

They don't reply to email either. I contacted them before I posted this message and at least once a week since and they no longer reply.
Tks for the information and the R&D team has just come back to work. We will follow up on this and get back to you soon.

I have tried this again on all three boxes, still factory reset, using the latest firmware, V008, and the behavior is identical

Thanks for your report on this symptom. After the study and confirmation from R&D, we are unable to solve this problem. Tks.

I guess there is no understanding with regard customer service of late at the Minix response center. To me a curt quick somewhat dismissive response will arouse and antagonize ones customers. The second hardest thing to find in business is customers, the hardest thing is to keep them. Tracy please consider the responses, if perhaps English is not your first language may I request you run the responses by someone who might understand the sensitivities of reply, "tks" does not cut it for me.
