Want to upgrade from NEO-8-H to NEO-U9-H

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you want to know the answer to whether to upgrade to u9-h from x8-h based on your subject title and the problem with XBMC you described. If my assumption is wrong then simply ignore my response. I own an X8-h plus as well as U9 so I can answer your question somewhat.
Personally I don't use XBMC on my X8-h Plus, and instead I installed Kodi Matrix edition. You can use the built in player from Kodi, or alternately you can use some of the more popular players like MX player and some of the newer players like Bplayer or Tplayer and such. I find with these options my x8h-plus is streaming many of the newer codex as well if not better than the U9 in some cases. In the player settings for any of these options I would use the both HW and SW decoder to cover your bases.
If the latest installs of these players don't work for you then maybe its time to upgrade. That's my two cents worth.
