What is the best player for Minix U9-H?

Hello,
I was pretty happy with the performance of the TV box using kodi 18. However, when KODI released the 19th version it all went downhill. Videos was studdering and lagging a bit. The sound was cutting off at times. I had terrible experience. If the video file was lower than 1080p it just messed audio and video sincronisation. In other words KODI 19 was a disaster for my Minix U9-h. Tried fresh installing and so on. Did not help.
With KODI 19 the easy setup for downloading subtitles from BS player plugin also disappeared.
Also tried going to KODI 18 but things were not the same as before so I kind of gave up on KODI. Last I checked even vidoes that were shared on my computers (using only gigabit wired connection) was having studdering issues.
So I decided to use SPMC as it is working ok-ish. It plays all my videos, I can download subtitles. No studdering when I play movies from the shared folder.
I was thinking what is the best player for my box - what are you guys using. I am considering downloading VLC or BS player. I am looking for good 4k playback with my receiver - SONY STR dn 1070 - currently in 5.1 setup.

I don't use corelec. But I have mx Pro installed on my minix and it plays just fine through my soundbar, when I occasionally use kodi 19.3

You said that even videos that are shared on your computer you have issues.

If your network (router, lan config, U9-h) and the files you are watching are ok (and well configured):
-you should have no issues streaming from ethernet gigabit and even 4K videos (streaming from your PC)

I always use and used Kodi (i am from XBMC (only for XBOX) time , now i use the latest kodi 19.3) and i have no issues (Streaming from my NAS, Pcs, etc)
Sometimes i use (windows) bs player (but only for test)

So:
-Even if you install coreElec you will have the same issues (most likely because the problem is there...)
-you must review your setup (restart router, restart U9-H, etc)
-check also your U9-H firmware and update only if you need:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...91120-community-edition-nougat-firmware.2107/
-check your U9-H installed apps (and uninstall those you don't need).
Use only trusted apps.
- i have to say that i use only TV speakers (and i also have no issues) but you should have no issues with video if everything is well configured

Note:
Streaming from internet is another thing (it will always depend on internet servers...)

Hi,
I have issues only with kodi 19.3. When I was playing movies with the same setup using KODI 18 I had no issues.
If I try to play the same movie using SPMC I am having no issues.
If I play it through other players - also no problems. I am certain KODI 19.3 is to blame.
However, I am looking for a good player. I do not know if SPMC is optimal. Kodi is not working for me. Tired clean installs and all. The 19th version is full of problems for me so I am looking for something else - performing good for 4k movies with surround sound.
Is coreElec like new OS? I do not want to reinstall the OS as I do not feel so advanced to do so. Also am considering going for Nvidia shield as it is waaay better supported. I am quite disapointed by the support by minix to be honest

Is there a video tutorial on the steps. Also after installing creelec I should use KODI as a player or?

I already posted the link above for you to read about installation.

It's an OS that only runs Kodi. In simple terms, CoreELEC is Kodi.
Thank you very much. I have tried it today and it runs smoothly.
I have only 1 issue. When I am done with the movie I would like to power off the box completely. However, it goes to standby mode. This is a problem for me because I have USB HDD hooked and it makes it spin all the time. I read that it is a CEC option but could not find which one exactly.
Using Minix u9-h. If someone could point me to the right direction I would really appreciate it. If not I will try messing with the CEC settings and if I find which one is the power off one - will let you know here
