What to do to revive the x8h-plus

Hello all,

i've been trying to upgrade my minix x8h plus to the latest lollipop via the usb burning tool.

For unknown reasons, it stopped at 96% and saying it couldnt see saved. I tried it again and the same error. Then the burning tool crashed.

Ok, find a new laptop (also windows 10) and then get new errors. Uhm... lets just plug it in the tv and see what happens. Nothing... black screen.
Then i tried the SD booting instruction... also nothing.

Now i keep getting connection problems on the 2nd laptop i've been trying. See attachment.

Anyone got a hint on what i could try next? I even tried several versions off the burning tool, the two different images... i tried untagging the "erase flash", also nothing. But before i try anything else, i posting my question here. Fingers crossed here, i really hope it can be saved. Thx for the support & time.

Hi villa, yea i saw that link earlier via other remarks. The only thing that i dont fully understand... is put those 3 files on a memcard. And keep holding the reset button pushed till a screen appears. Well after 3 minutes i figured i'm missing a step. So i'm stuck on that one. I downloaded the pack and unzipped, except the zip within the zip lol. Further no software.

Is your SD card formatted to FAT32?
Otherwise you have done it correctly, 3 files on the SD, unplug the box, bang in the SD card, plug the power back in, hold in the reset and then power on and hold both reset and power until the android upgrade robot appears. Only a few seconds after the Minix boot screen, anything more than 30 secs you can give up and try the process again.
 
So i let the box rest for a day ;)

I dismantled the box, cleaned the ports with WD40 even though they look clean. Something told me that inserting the SD card, also the OTG, felt a bit off. Couldnt tell for sure but after reopening, repositioning and cleaning. The reset boot is working.

So SD card was loaded with the "stock rom" from the freaktab link. It was installing, reboot, installing, reboot, installing.... hmmm now for the 4th time? Uhm... you know what. Clear the card and back to the instructions from the page with "burncardmaker" program...

And what do you know... it has been revived. Version 5.1.1. is alive and kicking.

No idea about the two laptops and usb ports, cable and connector lengths and so on... i must say they were older laptops running windows so perhaps something with standard drivers with older hardware? Anyways, tried several amlogic versions, installed the specific 64bit drivers... a mystery.

The SD card burner works like a charm.
