Where have all the continuous firmware updates gone?

Sooooo, what I used to love about Minix and why I choose to be all in on Minix products was that there were always updates that came on a regular basis (atleast 1 or 2 a month) that kept the android box working good... Now I never see any update by OTA and we have to look on the forum for hardware firmware links.... It's not that easy anymore.... and this update or firmware update for the U9-H was back in February of 2018....and nothing since then..... as well as what about the older box's like my other ones I have the Neo U1???? I'm starting to feel like Minix is forgetting their continuous updates on all their equipment to keep them running good for us.... I'm getting close to loosing faith in Minix.....please gain it back.....

Hello
I am of the opinion that better a good firmware dated but stable than a very latest firmware with several problems, there are several boxes on the market with even Android 9 but with many problems. in addition this is pure Android not Android TV. then what do you not do with this firmware that others can? ... trust in Minix! .if there are problems scuadra minix and ready to solve.

Oh well. That is not a reason to lose your faith. God didn't send any update down here in over 2000 years and still...

We were all new to the forum as the old forum was shut down, as I'm sure you know. So, as an old user of the world, and as a recent user of this forum, because the forum is recent, I would recommend the reading of this post:

https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/welcome-to-the-new-official-minix-forum.49/

and following answers, where people show appreciation and admiration for the effort to put a Minix forum up again, a place where we can meet and discuss our eventually troubles and ideas. Most are simple customers, but no one here is compelled to restore faith.

You are probably far from the oldest or grumpiest, and I am pretty sure that all members here are very happy to have you with us because one of these days your knowledge will also improve someone's day. That's how our faith gets restored.

Welcome back! :)

Hello and welcome back !
If it easy you never learn. In my opinion if it a little more complicated you always learn. In this case i am talking about manual firmware upgrade.

The question is more why does Google keep updating Android every year just for updating sake ? A year is not a lot of time for developers to get something right and then start new again without having time to polish it. I mean seriously what is better with Android 4.4.2 vs 5.1.1 ? The layout on Lollipop 5.1.1 is extremely stupid and is a step back from 4.4.2 even. These idiots do updates to make everyone's life more complicated for no other freaking reasons other than to have something to do ...smartphones are now coming out with Android 9.0 already !

They wouldn't have an empire from sitting quiet. The next improvement guides the consumers as a flock of lambs to a target. Your privacy was never as exposed as it became with all the IT evolution. And as it got exposed they created illusive barriers for you to think you had some control -now you have to give allowance for this and that, they made you believe that they had all been caught spying you, and laws were created to protect you, but nobody was arrested for spying on you. Our so called control is just a better way to tell them how you will or will not allow them to interfere with your domains, this provides again another big chunk of information about who you really are, what you like and dislike, in which side you stand with your opinions, and unoticeably you will be better guided than before to where they wish to take you.

They even make you believe that you get things for free. Regarding the new HBO app and service, I had this conversation with someone claiming they had the latest episodes of a well known series displayed for free in a cable TV channel... He pays 55 dollars a month for the cable service... well... you tell me updates are almost useless. I think the same sometimes, but then I realized I must stop thinking my usual consumer way, and try to understand where I'm being taken, and seldom I feel too tied to resist, as you get limited for not obeying.

These corporations make things for the Joe at Best Buy to peddle ...nothing more ! ...LoL
Coporations I despise with a passion is Intel and Microsoft. Intel hasn't come out with anything new since 2007 and Mickeysoft updates like Google for no reasons, but both see the writing on the wall ...they're finished !
