Hi guys, I currently own a Minix Neo U1 and am considering upgrading to the U22-XJ as the U1 is getting slow and is super laggy when playing 4K video files and even 1080 X.265 videos. What I like about the U1 is that it passes through HD audio (DTS-MA, DD, Dolby TrueHD, etc) seamlessly to my Yahama YSP-2700. After reading the NEO U22-XJ: 005FW (20200826) - Bugtracker thread, seems like the U22 can’t do what I need it to do... Should I go for the U9 instead?

I would like to say hold on and watch the forum as Minix is working with Amlogic to fix the passthrough issue regarding HD audio but it is dragging on some what. However, if your primary use is Kodi then I would suggest going for the U22 and using CoreElec in the meantime as the HD audio passthrough is working there.

Pardon my ignorance, but as a layman, reading a few articles about CoreElec after googling makes my head spin... ?

its really not that difficult to install Coreelec on the U22, the guide on the Coreelec site ( gives you all the info you need and only really entails copying a few files onto an SD card. Theres also plenty of willing helpers here to !

Saying that theres really no reason to abandon your U1, maybe it just needs a bit of a freshen up. If it played your media files well in the past there is no reason it shouldnt now.
