Wifi not working

I have a Neo X8 H plus.. I upgraded to a Shield TV last year so this has been stored away. Recently, I gave it to a friend. I factory reset and set it up for him. For some reason, the Wifi doesn't turn on. I click ON and it does nothing. So it can't see his network. I'm trying to figure out if I can use a USB wifi adapter. Would that work? What can I do to fix this? Without Wifi, this thing is a paper weight. He has no way to run cable to his TV area.

Any suggestions?

I might add that I disabled Ethernet. But I still can't detect his network. When I select 'find all', nothing shows up. In fact, half of the time, the box reboots. something's going on.

Yes. Of course it's attached. There's an option to "Turn off Wifi". When I select that, I can either choose "On" or "off". Even when I select "On", it doesn't turn on. It still shows that it's off.

Have you checked the Windows "device manager" to see if there is an obvious fault or problem with the Wi-Fi adapter?

What about other devices (e.g. PC or Mobile phone)?
Can they connect to the same router?

Guys. You are failing to understanding me here. Usually when you start a device, laptop, phone, Andoid box, the first thing is the Wifi set up. Usually it lists all of the detectable network. Then you choose and proceed with the set up.

With the Minix, nothing is listed. When you go on try to turn on wifi, there's two option: On and Off. I turn the Wifi ON, but it doesn't turn on. There's still no networks.

As for Windows Device Manager, how do you get access to Windows Device Manager if this is not a Windows device? I've tried everything. I can't get the Wifi to turn on, detect, or even connect.

Apologies, obviously strike my previous post. I often have two forum tabs open simultaneously & I've posted the wrong comment to the wrong thread!!

Numpty lol.

Have you considered or tried a factory reset?

It's hard to know what causes this issue.
A common way to fix these no-reason-to-be-found problems is to manually re-install the firmware.
Have you ever tried it?

I tried to do a factory reset from within Minix. But that didn't do the trick. I'm gong to to hard reset and re-install the firmware tonight. I hope it's not a hardware issue.

I'm still having problems and maybe someone can help. I connect my Minix to my computer via USB. I start the USB Burning Tool. Nothing is detected. I unplug the power, and plug back in. I hear a dinging sound and the message says, "Connect Success". Then the blue light in front goes off and the "Connect Success" goes away. When I turn on the Minix, that message (Connect Success) isn't there anymore. So now I can't update the Minix. It's very frustrating. I need to have "Connect Success" stay on so I can load the firmware and start the update. How can I get it to do that?

Assuming you have watched the tutorial at >> https://theminixforum.com/index.php...s-011fw-20170119-final-kitkat-os-firmware.58/

You need to power down the minix and then reconnect the power cord and then hold the reset button in with a pin tack or similar and press the power button on the minix until you get the connect success on the usb burn tool, at that moment release both the reset and power buttons.

It can be a bit fiddly and the written instructions miss the pin tack reset requirement !!

OK. Thank you. Doing it in that order seems to work. I do have "Connect Success" on the screen. However, it's not going all the way through. I'm getting this error: [0X00101004] Erase bootloader/Lowper/Identity/Error result.

I've tried it 3-4 times and it doesnt go all the way through.

Thoughts?

double, triple check you are using the correct firmware to upgrade your box...there are quite a few variants of x8...... and it can be easy to get it wrong

OK. Can you link me the right firmware? Or the newest one available?
No...... the suggestion i am making is that you have to double check exactly which model of x8 you have and then download the correct firmware for the exact same model...all the firmware links are in the model version official firmware threads.

I have the Minix X8H Plus. I actually downloaded the firmware on my PC months ago. I went through it and installed it successfully. Then I gave it to my friends weeks later. That's when the problem started with the WIFI. Now I have to repeat the same process over again.

Which firmware? From where?

If you downloaded firmware for the X8, X8-H & X8 Plus and flashed this to the X8-H Plus then WiFi will not work.

OK. Perhaps I'm getting somewhere now. I just successfully downloaded the firmware. However, the wireless does not work. So you're saying, I downloaded the wrong firmware? I can fix that with some help. I just want to know it's not a hardware issue. If it is, I will take it out to my friends farm and put a 9mm in the middle of it. I've spent hours and hours trying to get this thing working.

So if I have the X8H plus, what firmware should I download? Can you post it here?
